Junior is Triggered, part VIII

I tried to find a photo of junior actually doing some blue-collar work, and this is the closest thing I could get.

It's good to have read this book, because I didn't know the Righties are trying to steal the unions as well 8-o

They probably realized that the workers have learned that unions are on their sides, and will not give them up, so to get their votes, the Righties have to somehow make them believe they like unions, even though they have fought them since their creation. Only 20 years ago one couldn't find a conservative who was for unions. "Unions ARE Socialist", they said. I have grown up in a country where unions are self-evident, but my home country is social liberal.

Why the Republican Party Wants to Destroy Labor Unions

There Is No Such Thing as a Conservative Workers’ Movement

"Franklin D. Roosevelt, the man who practically invented the labor union"
Excuse me, what?

"JFK would be considered alt-right today"
Would he?
Colored should have equal rights with white people, the immigration should be opened to third world shithole countries ("National origin quotas are indefensible racial preferences"), school desegregation, federal aid to schools, federal money to boost teachers' salaries, aid to education, cuts to oil companies, banned DDT because of Silent Spring, was for chain immigration, increased Foreign Aid, was for diversity, "Government programs help people do what they can't do alone", federal aid for health care for elderly, “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country", increased minimum wage and social security benefits, war on poverty...
No. He wouldn't.

"It’s the reason we have a forty-hour workweek, a two-day weekend, and benefits programs for workers."

I'm sorry but I must have misunderstood something. I would say you think that's a good thing. But that's socialism. "Benefit programs". The very thing you most accuse the Democrats of. "They want everyone to have social security benefits!"

"pretending to be for civil rights reform"

"Pretending"? I have to say that I don't care one bit about the sincerity of the people who gave me equal civil rights with the White Man, I really only care about that they did. I don't care if they lost sleep over it, and signed the laws crying. The Republicans haven't even bother pretending to be for civil rights.

The same way, in reality, in action, there is no difference with "support" and "support system".

Businesses have been able to grow without tax cuts, and a lot of tax cuts have costs more to the society and the workers have paid for them, because the Ruling Class whining about "I'll use my millions to create more jobs" hasn't really created more jobs, at least jobs one could live on.
That's one of the reasons the Righties have been against unions, the unions demand better salaries to the workers. If the employers could decide, they'd take the jobs to overseas where someone did the same job for less pay... er... oops!
They do...

"Instead of pooling resources so they could cut taxes and grow US businesses, the federal government under Democrat control started to promote public spending and enormous welfare programs"

Yeah... if you could choose, you'd just focused on growing US businesses and making the business owners more rich, and ignore totally education, health care, veterans, police, military, infrastructure, and every other thing the State uses tax money to pay for.

Where do you think the State gets its money? Grows on trees? They print it? Borrow it from foreign states and end up owing the whole USA to China?

"Then they raised taxes to pay for bloated programs, such as food stamps and federally funded housing, that work only to keep poor people poor."

You know nothing about "food stamps" or federally funded housing, or any other social system. Probably because to you "poor" is middle class, and the real poor are... fairy tale figures?

The Truth About Food Stamps
How food stamps keep families in a cycle of poverty - and it's not for the reasons junior thinks.
There’s a huge debate over how the very poorest are doing. There’s no debate about whether food stamps help them.

7 things you should know about poverty and housing
How Housing Policy Is Failing America's Poor - (because of the landlords and builders/real estate people)
Unaffordable America

Various Supports for Low-Income Families Reduce Poverty and Have Long-Term Positive Effects On Families and Children

Or The top tax rate has been cut six times since 1980 — usually with Democrats’ help
Still, the conservatives whine.

"when people are dependent on you, they’re much more likely to go to the polls and cast a vote for you. It’s just basic psychology."

Hmm... is that why senior tells his supporters that if he loses, there will be no more Christmas, that China will own USA, that USA will become Communist, they are coming to take away your guns, and all the other crap he spouts? And you too?
It's just basic psychology. That's how fearmongering works.

“Joe Biden and the Democratic Socialists will kill your jobs, dismantle your police departments, dissolve your borders, release criminal aliens, raise your taxes, confiscate your guns, end fracking, destroy your suburbs and drive God from the public square,”

"doles out food stamps to out-of-work coal miners"
So you think out-of-work coal miners shouldn't eat while they are getting a new job? Maybe you should give them all a mobilcard in stead.

"Meanwhile, [union bosses] threw their support behind a party that did nothing for them but ship union jobs overseas. They were literally helping to export the American dream that they were initially created to protect."

So now the shipping of jobs overseas is not only the Democrats' fault but union bosses? And the employers who actually ship the jobs overseas are fully innocent?
And the workers actually buy this shit? 8-o

"For example, take John “Johnny Doc” Dougherty. As of this writing, the boss of the Philadelphia Building & Construction Trades Council and Local 98 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers is awaiting trial on a 116-count federal indictment"

And the President and a lot of people associated with him (you included) were indicted, and didn't go through a trial, because the Republican Senate didn't want him to.
You are throwing stones in a glass house, junior. You aren't in the clear yet.

"When I asked Rusty what modern Democrat policies his grandfather might have supported, from socialized medicine to giving amnesty to millions of illegals, he couldn’t name a one. “How about keeping more of the money you earn from working?” I asked. “How much more of your paycheck do you want the government taking away?” Rusty shook his head and said, “None.” I smiled. “Look, Rusty,” I said, “I understand the tradition. I understand that being a Democrat is all your family has ever known. But, man, today’s party is not your grandfather’s Democrat Party.” You could almost see the light go on behind his eyes. I put my hand out and he grabbed it. “Welcome to the GOP,” I said. “We’re glad to have you.”"

Poor Rusty. He bought the snake oil.

Let's assume one's grandfather did support FDR and Harry S. Truman. Some things in common with their politics and today's Democrats:

Social Security Administration; retirement, disability, and survivor benefits
Works Progress Administration: governmental unemployment program
Social Security Act; unemployment insurance, Aid to Dependent Children, Medicaid and Medicare
The Economic Bill of Rights

"We cannot be content, no matter how high that general standard of living may be, if some fraction of our people—whether it be one-third or one-fifth or one-tenth—is ill-fed, ill-clothed, ill-housed, and insecure"
"Among these are:

    The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;
    The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;
    The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;
    The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;
    The right of every family to a decent home;
    The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;
    The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;
    The right to a good education."
House Un-American Activities Committee was un-American.
Progressive tax system - those who earn the least pay the least taxes, those who earn the most pay the most taxes. (Quite a lot of people were happy to find more money in their accounts during the year, but when the year ended, they found that they weren't getting as much returns, and in the total they ended up having LESS money than previously...)
National health program: adequate care to all who need it.

It's the same "socialist" stuff you whine about.

About your dad hiring union workers and paying them a decent salary... you seem to forget that your father has said "in many cases, I probably identify more as Democrat". Hiring union workers is totally according to Democrat values (as well now as it was then), and he noticed it was a good practice, just as the Democrats have been telling USA since FDR, so he kept doing that, even though it goes against the Republican party values.

Also, picking individual people to represent the whole group of people... I'm sure some union leaders are bad people, but would you want people to judge all real estate developers by Michael d'Alessio or Justin French, or all Republicans by Tim Murphy, Scott DesJarlais or Steve King? One finds crooks everywhere.

"To voters like Rusty, the billionaire from Fifth Avenue is just as blue collar as they are."

Well... they might believe it, but it's not the truth for that. You are not "blue collar". That one opening this section of my reaction to your book is the closest thing I've been able to find of you actually working. I'm sure you could. I'm sure you are a man of reasonable intelligence and average physique, and you would be quite capable of doing the work, if you wanted to, but the difference between blue collars and you is that they don't have a choice, and their lifestyle, culture, milieu is very different from yours. I'm pretty sure you haven't seen many of them skiing in Aspen.
I find it interesting how through the whole book you talk about the working class as "your kind of people", but every encounter you describe is you stepping out of your normal life to mingle with them.

So basically you are marie-antoinetting. She liked to play being a shepherdess in pretty clothes and cutesy little lambs, until it was time for dinner, and she left the job for those who really did it and went home to eat dinner with his dad, a good dinner cooked by kitchen personnel, and served on silver platters, in a dining room, while the blue-collar people eat their homecooked meal by the kitchen table.

"To the idiots on television who ended up with egg on their faces: shame on you. The same goes for the executives who kept these idiots employed. Only in the world of fake news can someone get something so wrong, such as the 2016 election, come back the next day, and pretend nothing ever happened! Where the hell is the accountability, people? Heads should have rolled! Do you remember the meltdown on CNN? What a glorious early morning as those who had predicted for weeks that Hillary would win by double digits had to eat their words. Still, they got away with all their lies. Trump exposed the supposed experts for what they are: full of shit."

"Heads should have rolled?" "Accountability?" ROTFLMAO

Hillary won the popular vote. 3 million more Americans wanted her to be the president than Trump. More union workers voted for her than Trump.
But - who cares about what the Americans want, as long as your candidate wins.

"Name one substantive thing that Democrats have done for the union men and women of America over the past decades."

They have made it possible for union men and women to exist. Every union achievement, right, privilege, pride is possible because of the things Democrats have done, since FDR.
The Republicans are doing their best to obliterate unions
. And when the unions are gone, the attack on wages, rights, and privileges will start. Without the Democrats workers will be back to 1930s where the employer had all the cards, and you had to accept any pay - even no pay - for the "right" to work.

But, even if the Democrat party would die, the Left will not, and we will bring you up as many times as needed.

"How dumb do you think we are?"

"We"? Which union do you belong to, Donald Trump jr.? Or your dad?

"Before he was president, my father watched as Democrats exported the American dream to our competitors while Americans—good, hardworking Americans—struggled, and it sickened him. That dream was our only substantive export for decades. He was sick of watching other countries who hate our guts prosper, while our prospects went down the drain because of Democrats’ decisions. They were exporting the American dream to people who despised our freedoms and our values, all while our citizens suffered. Donald J. Trump brought that dream back to where it belongs—right here in the U.S. of A."

Hmm... The American Dream is just that... a dream. It's not substantial. Even if it was imported to the whole world, even if every human being on the planet shared it, it wouldn't take away anything from USA.
Or are you saying it is not so?
If other countries sharing the dream of that one could find prosperity by talents and hard work, removes the Americans possibility to reach the prosperity by their hard work, how many Americans can have it without it infringing other Americans' ability to have it?

China was accepted into WTO during a Republican president.
The consequences of the Republican president's mistakes were stopped and turned into growth during the following president, a Democrat. They rescued the auto industry together, because they understood that the American people shouldn't pay for their pride.
The Democrat president was hindered every step of the way by Republicans. The Democrats tried to get laws through limiting immigration, and helping unions, but were stopped by the Republicans.

"After what my father and his administration have accomplished for workers in their first three years—tax cuts, raises in workers’ salaries, historically low unemployment..."

After what Obama and his administration accomplished for workers in their last seven years - tax cuts, raises in workers' salaries, historically dramatic lowering of unemployment - from the 9.9% Bush left to 4.1% Trump started with - had Trump continued at the same rate Obama lowered the unemployment, the unemployment rate would be below 2% today. It was 14.7% in April. It was 6.9% in October. It is estimated to be above 5 when Biden takes the rudder.
And people have been reporting that the tax cuts might have shown in the beginning of the year when there was more money in the wallet, but then in the end of the year, when tax credits came, and people realized that all in all they got less money than during Obama's administration. The tax cuts really benefited only the rich, who did not use the extra income to generate more jobs.
If all Trump's bragging had been true, we would have seen positive spikes in statistics, and the only spike we saw was the Covid spike.

So in reality there is absolutely no defensible reason for a working-class voter to support Trump.

Socialims and open borders are not tenets of the Democrat party.

"less livable than ever for members of the working class"

Uhhuh...

"they have helped ship jobs overseas"

It's the employers who have shipped the jobs overseas, totally on their own volition, with no help from the Democrats. With some help from the Republicans.

"They’ve also allowed thousands of people to enter the country as illegal immigrants"

"What better way to destroy American progress than by having overcrowded schools and health care systems that collapse under the strain of a growing population of dependents who won’t ever pay into our systems?"

Lie about it, lie about everything, demonize your political opponent, use fearmongering, undermine the news reporting, strengthen people's beliefs in conspiracy theories, talk about alternative facts and fake news and tweet anything and everything that supports your agenda.

USA has never been this close to being destroyed, and it's not because of Democrats, overcrowded schools or health care system.
