These two images were pinned by the same woman... first one is supposed to be "so sexy". I mean... how... Women are still getting mad with their boyfriends because they can't "read their minds" - they should have known better, they should have known she doesn't like this or that, they should know what to do in every situation... women are still darn codependent and expect him to KNOW IF they REALLY love... yet - objectifying women (there's a damn lot of nudity and prn in Pinterest pinned as "romantic", "hot" and "sexy") (and men) and depicting them in a situation that to me reads as more or less forced and violent is "OK"... How are men supposed to know that women mean it when they say "no is no"?

BTW; I agree 100% with the second picture, what ever I think about Slut walks.

Firstly, I oppose the name. I am not a slut, I have never been a slut and will never be a slut, and I don't dress like a slut. Like the majority of world's women.

No, Samadhi. A slut is someone who offers sexual services for money. It's synonymous to whore, not to "someone who enjoys sex".
Of course it's not okay to rape sluts either, but no-one said it was. The "offensive" police officer was talking about rape as CRIME. You know, the word that means something is wrong, illegal, offensive... very much no-no, not okay. He was doing his best to see less crimes done, and he wasn't "blaming the victim". He gave a suggestion on what women could do as part of diminishing the risks of becoming a victim of a crime, and I agree with him.

Secondly, I don't think it's that black-and-white.
Most rapes are committed by someone the victim knows, like spouse, relative, "friend" or neighbor.
Most rapes are about power and control, and have nothing to do with what you are wearing. People wearing burka has been raped and sexually harassed and abused.
But that's just "most rapes". There are rape situations that could have been avoided, if the victim had been wearing something else and behaving differently. It happens.

Now - why is it such a big deal if people are asked to do small things like choosing a little more moderate clothes or being watchful in high risk situations, to avoid becoming a victim of a crime, when it comes to rape?
After all, people are asked to do things to avoid other crimes too, like having a fake handbag or wallet with things you can afford to lose in case of robbery, or to get proper locks and lock their doors and windows when they are not home, and not to advertise when they are on vacation, to avoid burglery.
Everyone knows burglery is wrong, and you should be able to leave your door unlocked and be able to return to a home that's in the shape it was when you left it, but I don't know anyone who doesn't think leaving the door unlocked was unwise and sort of inviting the burgler. No insurance company pays you any repairs if you "aided" the criminal by not locking your doors.
Also, I don't know anyone who doesn't blame herself, if her handbag gets snatched from their unguarded shopping cart.
So - why not try to do things you can do to minimize the risk of getting raped, simply because in MOST rape cases it doesn't matter what you are wearing?

This brings me to my third reason. The police officer was not asked what he meant with what he said, and of everything he said only one sentence is made known to the audience. This sentence is stripped from all context and interpreted. He was told to apologize, not given a chance to explain. People has already condemned him as a "typical example of a chauvinist idiot police officer and the attitudes all women have to fight". I hate this kind of fascist, fundamentalist, extremist propaganda, making of examples of people who are not at all as "evil" as painted by the fundies, because it hurts people and in the end also the cause.

Of course women have the right to wear what ever they want - or nothing, if that's what they want - but it's not always right, wise or considerate to others.

There has been a lot of talk about people wearing burka, and some of these women marching for women's right to wear nothing if they like, oppose vehemently to women's right to wear a burka.
My SIL thinks immigrants and refugees shouldn't be wearing their ethnic clothes, but be dressed like every other Dane. She found also my husband's Viking inspired clothes offensive. He loves his sarks and wouldn't wear shorts.
Some people find Lady Gaga offensive or ridiculous.
Frankly, if a woman has the right to be dressed as a slut without any negative consequences, she should have the right to wear anything without any negative consequences... like getting mocked or shoved around or denied access to a prom or restaurant.

I don't take these women seriously. They are doing a dang good impression of a "brainless bimbo".

I think these girls are more likely to say "yes" to sex - with anyone - than girls not showing their knickers and boobs to everyone who cares to look.
I don't think they are after anything but sex, either for free or for money. Why would you wear something like this otherwise? If these women are not after sex, I think they are guilty of false advertising and teasing, and that's just wrong.
What's the point of dressing like a slut?
I mean, if I was out there looking for a guy, I wouldn't want him to see me as just a sexual being.
I don't understand why anyone would want the whole world to see their private parts. I want to save those to my lover.

I have full understanding that a guy who is probably in the bar or party with the wish of sex - as a lot of guys are, especially in college age - thinks the same.

I don't believe these women have a very good self esteem. I don't believe they have a very good sense of humor, that they use their intelligence (at all), and I believe they are very susceptible, a flock of sheep, doing what everyone else is doing. These girls would "go wild" just because someone told them it's a "good idea", and probably will, because I don't believe any of these will be sober when the night is over, and I bet everyone has done something they would regret if they knew they did it, something they wouldn't have done sober, or in another situation.

I believe they all have been sexually assaulted at one point of their lives, and I would guess they were wearing something similar when it happened.
I also think their "offender" was more or less a stranger or a class mate, and the "offense" happened in a party, and was most likely dismissed as "false report".

Do I think it serves them right?
Of course not. But I think it's pretty predictable.

Now, I don't think these women are begging to be raped, or should get raped or even groped, pinched or insulted, but I do think they are making it easier for guys to take the step over the line. It takes a lot not to touch when someone pushes their tits or ass in your face, and if you are drunk and out to "get some", you might just go for it. Doesn't make it less rape, but I most certainly see "mitigating circumstances".

So, even though I support women's right to not get raped,
and even though I think rape is a crime with too easy punishments
and I agree the society and law enforcement doesn't take it seriously enough,
I don't think "slut walk" is a good way of expressing this opinion.
It's giving people right to call women sluts and changing the focus from important issues to petty matters.

I for one think rape should be seen as any other crime and the punishment should be adjusted to the damage done, but that demands the emotional damage is considered and the consequences of that is that bullying would be classified as crime as well... which I think is a good thing, but fundies don't, because it would remove a lot of their weapon arsenal.

Also, his choice of the "can you prove" questions is very interesting. He is actually admitting that his "facts" are just theories, that are to be believed, just like the existence of God. We must remember here a couple of things here: not every Palestinian in Israeli prisoners are there as a political prisoner. You're not a political prisoner because you are in a prison for a crime you committed for political reasons.

Why Palestine should be recognized

These are just loose thoughts I have been playing with, based on the "stupid" idea that people appreciate peace more than some material things like "who lives in the place my great-grandfather planted his olive trees", and that the national self determination is more important than nationalism.

The most important reason is naturally that Palestine wants to be an independent state. I am all for the national self determination, how ever one defines the nation. But there are other reasons, reasons that would be beneficial for the whole world and humankind.

As it is now, there has never been an independent state of Palestine. This is the reason to why there are a number of UN security council resolutions concerning Israel but none concerning the state of Palestine. To remove this unbalance, we need to have an independent Palestine.

Israel must stop the violations of human rights and remove all the roadblocks and Jewish settlements inside Palestine, whether Palestine is independent or not. It might be easier for Israel to do, if it was compensated in other areas.

Of course, Palestine would have to follow the suit and remove all the Palestinian settlements inside Israel and give up all the demands to Israeli lands and "right to return".

That would solve the Palestinian refugee problem once and for all. UNRWA would not be needed anymore, which would save thousands of dollars of UN money, and the "Palestinian refugee camps" would be recognized as the villages, towns and cities they are.

As it is now, Israel is holding hundreds of Palestinians prisoners. Feeding and housing these people are costing a lot to the Israeli government. If Palestine was independent, they could just send these people home.

Of course, Palestine would need to send back the Israelis they are holding, among others Gilad Shalit. About 2/3 of Israelis think no price is too high to get him back home, so the Israeli government would win a huge political victory.

Also, if Israel releases the Palestinian prisoners as normal prisoner exchange between two independent states, it would not give the message to terrorists that it is a good idea to kidnap Israelis.

Domestic terrorism is quite different issue than foreign terrorism or acts of war between two independent states. If Palestine was an independent state, recognised by the world community, there would be different expectations and rules concerning Israel-Palestine relations. An independent Palestine would act as an automatic peace treaty, and every hostile act after that would be considered as initiating hostilities, not as act of self-defense. If Palestine was independent, every rocket, every bullet, even stones thrown over the border, would be acts of war, could be taken as declaration of war, which would give Israel right to defend itself. The same way, every Israeli transgression over the border would be act of war as well.

There is only one problem here. The UN partition plan as well as the pre-1967 borders are both unacceptable.

Whole Judea should belong to the Jews (by the "It's called PALESTINE" logic). (Judea's Northern border goes from Mediterranean to Jordan at Jerusalem's height). Gaza doesn't belong to Judea, as it is the original Philistea (Palestine). This way the Jews would get the control of their two holiest cities, Jerusalem and Hebron. The Muslims have Mecca and Medina, their Holiest cities, so it's just fair that the Jews have the Jewish Holiest cities.

Palestinians should get Galilee up to Syrian border, and thus control most of the Christian holy sites, like Bethlehem, Nazareth, Lake Gennesaret, Magdala and "Armageddon" (Megiddo) and thus get all the tourist income from the Christian Holy Land tourists. They would also get the control of the most important water sources of the whole Levant; Golan, Nablus Giboa (Northern Mountain Aquifer), Sea of Galilee and upper Jordan (upper Western Mountain Aquifer).
This would not only give them the control of water, but a bigger and better land than what they would lose to Israel. The Southern areas of current West-Bank are mostly rocky mountains

As Galilee gives Israel more than half of its water, Israel should get a full control of Yarkon-Tanninim (Western Mountain Aquifer) and lower Jordan (lower Western Mountain Aquifer). Full control means in this case that the borders need to be drawn so the whole area where the aquifer lies belongs to respective countries, so that one country cannot deplete or destroy the water for the other. The Coastal Aquifer would be shared with Gaza, as it is today.

That would also obsolete Israel's water deal with Jordan, Syria and Palestine, and Jordan, Syria and Israel would need to negotiate with Palestinians about that issue. Sitting on the main water resources of the whole area would give Palestinians very good negotiation ground.

Now, I'm really worried about this, because the Palestinians haven't shown much ability of managing the scarce water resources they have - it has been more "this way it has always been done, even when there were 1/10 of people living in this area, and this is the way we will do it for ever more, even when we are slowly poisoning the water resources". If they follow that thinking, they will be sitting on poison in 10 years, in stead of something really valuable. But, who knows. The water resources of Levant are not enough for the population as it is, so we need to find ways of cleaning water in any case. We need desalination plants for Negev and Gaza, and find a way to adjust the Fremen water policies for the rest of Levant. (Fremens are the invented people from the desert planet Arrakis, from Frank Herbert's scifi classic The Dune. Their water policy involves circulating all water - including your urine, tears, sweat, saliva and the tiny amount of water in your breath.) Israelis are rather brilliant in finding solutions to problems of this kind, and if they lost the aquifers of Galilee, they would have to use this brilliance and the money given to them by USA to create water technology, not war technology.

Also, it would fall to Egypt to see Gazans get what they need, and Syria and Jordan to see Palestine gets what it needs, if Israel became an equal neighbor in stead of a suzerain "occupier". That would also make the wall acceptable in principle, as it would then be a "normal" border wall. One independent state has no obligations to allow the citizens of another independent state to cross the border to work or tend their lands. The wall needs to come down anyway, because it's in wrong place. If Israel gets the Western Mountain Aquifer as compensation for the loss of the rich water resources of Northern Israel - which they should - the wall would be in Israeli territory, and not on the border of Israel and Palestine.

Now, I don't think people are ready to look at Israel-Palestine from an intelligent point of view. There's too much emotions involved, and too many people use the situation as political game piece, totally in spite of all the misery caused by this. If people were just a little bit more interested in peace and development, life and the common good, in stead of history, Nazi "Greater Homeland" ideology, stubborn insisting of how things should be done (Come on! 1967 borders? I am a middle aged woman and I wasn't even born then. Neither was 2/3 of Palestinians.) in stead of trying to find totally new, better and more functional solutions, and mourning over past unjustices, whining and complaining, and demanding compensation for something that happened long ago.

If Shoah doesn't count, Nakba doesn't count either.

Should Christians respect President Obama?

There is a piece of writing circulating on-line. I received it today. Most people spreading it refuse to answer any responses :-D Cowards, I say. Well... doesn't save them.

Firstly, it's not said nor written by David Barton. I wasn't aware that spreading rumors, urban legends and hoaxes is part of these "Judeo-Christian values of Founding Fathers", but... on the other hand... that's one part of what made Washington such a brilliant general :-D (I would like it if people removed the "Judeo" part of this, and spoke only about their own faith and values. The Jewish and Christians values are not the same.)

I read a lot about homeschooling yesterday, and one of the things that Christians wish to teach their children is respect of each other. They say:

"Teaching respect as a Christian trait requires at least seven facts.

   1. Respect is owed God for Who He is
   2. God created all things
   3. God said His creations are good
   4. Respect is owed to all God created
   5. Everything God created has value
   6. Respect recognizes value
   7. Respect is exercised by conscious choice"

Now, if this person calling him/herself Christian says s/he consciously chooses NOT to respect a man, simply because s/he disagrees with him, and about politics and money, of all issues, how do you think you COULD teach your children true respect of others. As far as I understand, these seven principles can be put simply thus:
we are to respect others because
a) God created everything, even President Obama,
b) what God created has a value and
c) that value is good, even if we cannot see it, We should trust and love God enough to not question Him.

I'm sorry, but if I was Christian, I would look at what this person says through the Bible and not through my political opinions, and realize that s/he is NOT saying things Christians should even listen to, and definitely not spread.
God has given the Christians brains and heart and the Bible. I wish they'd use those to for themselves decide what is good and what not, and don't just follow some populist orator. I am not asking anyone to agree with President Obama, but what ever he is, he IS your brother, your neighbor, your kin, God's creation and a human. As a Christian you should LOVE him for that, and that alone, and with love follows respect.
I don't think one really loves the person one calls "the embodiment of Evil!" :-D

Then about paying the taxes, what ever they are.

If you look at any American coin or bill it says "United States of America". It's not YOUR money, it's USA's money, so give it to USA, and you know as well as I do, that USA means the government. If your elected "emperor" wants to collect taxes, give him them.

Sounds to me that who ever wrote this (and who ever is sending it on and spreading it) is trying to lure the Christian Republicans away from God, to Mammon. The whole writing reeks love of money, love of nation, country, land and love of political party... loving earthly things more than your neighbor/enemy/next of kin/another human being. I really don't think Jesus told you to do that...
Are you going to make the same choice?
Are you going to continue encouraging your fellow Christians to follow the person who wrote this and not Jesus?

That all the Anti-Israelis were wrong, and the people defending Israel's right to exist were right. It would not wipe Israel off the world map. It would cement Israel on it.

It is better for everyone is Iran is allowed to build not only nuclear plants but nuclear weapons, because that is the only way the rest of the world will learn if they can use them too. USA obviously was mad enough to use theirs. Let's see who else is mad enough :-> I really don't think Iranians are that mad, or even willing to be written on the same list with USA... the only two countries ever having used nuclear weapons against another nation...

Also, don't you think Israel has nuclear weapons? Don't you think Tehran would stop existing the minute Tel Aviv stopped existing? I do. And... Tehran has no capacity what so ever to deal with that. Tel Aviv does, as Israel has been living under the very real threat against its existance since before it even existed. What if the Irani people are not as stupid as you seem to think they are? What if they are actually aware of such little things as nuclear fallout and their own poor capacity to deal with such things?

Also, don't you think the old Soviet nuclear weapons have already been sold to practically every Arabic countries? I do.

BTW, Israel hasn't only been "legally punishing" terrorists. With your twisted ideas of preventive punishments (hey, why not just kill off everyone, to be sure that no-one, ever, does anything illegal? It would work.) it's of course ok to punish the criminals' parents, siblings, cousins and friends, but it really is against the Human Rights. Of course Israel has the right to build any kind of walls around its borders, but... where do the borders go, actually? Israel has no right to go to Palestinian land to build walls, neither has Israel right to set up roadblocks in foreign countries. Of course Israel has the right to not allow anything to be transported on their land, but they have no right to tell Jordan or Egypt what they may or not may transport to their neighbors. It really isn't Israel's business, if who ever sells Palestine what ever. Of course people die in any armed conflict, even if it's "just" a gang war or police intervention. But what about the violations of people's civil and human rights? Why are the Negev Bedouins being harassed? The list goes on and on...

Israel is not a perfect country with snow-white human rights record, and everyone should have enough honor to acknowledge this.

Nevertheless, that is totally irrelevant. The question should not be if Israel DESERVES to exist or be destroyed. Israel has the right to exist - if not for anything else, then for the mere fact that Israel exists and has existed for over 50 years. I happen to believe in the right of Nations to self-determination; and that is why I believe Israel has the right to exist, and where it exists. In fact, as I do believe in the right to self-determination, I believe there SHOULD be an independent state of Palestine without Israel's interference, and I believe the Iranians should be free to decide whom they war with and with what means. USA, the least of all, has any right to try to limit this, as it has practically been at war with someone since 19th century. No wonder they are flying the wartime flag...

But - I couldn't watch the 12 steps program. It's not fair to call it a cult, because no-one is forced in to the program, no-one is forced to stay and it doesn't cost anything. Sure, there are rules and certain amount of religiosity involved, and it doesn't work for everyone, but the world is full of people whose lives have been saved by 12 steps. I haven't heard of anyone whose life was harmed or lost to 12 steps movement. Perhaps they presented these people in the show, but I doubt that. I won't watch it.

Gun control... to me it's obvious the 2nd amendment is helplessly outdated. But, sure, let the USonians play with their guns and shoot each other.
What I don't understand is that most of the gun-toters are also Christian - and the kind of Christian who think they are the only RIGHT kind of Christians, who take the Bible as literary truth, demand "intelligent design" is taught in schools and other such crap, but if you quote them some Bible, they will tell you you're evil. :-> "Thou shall not kill", "But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil" and I'm pretty sure it says something about it being better for you to loose your hand than soul and something about rich men getting to heaven, but - I'm not Christian. I've just read the book. Unlike many Christians. ;-) Nevertheless, my point is, that according to how I understand the Greek Scriptures, it would be better for me to get mugged, raped and killed, than loose my soul by trying to kill another human being, how ever bad I judge that human being to be. I will survive any bodily harm and any loss of property, and if I die, I will meet my maker a bit earlier than I expected, but as not a bird falls from sky without God knowing it, why would I die without God's knowledge and acceptance of that? So, no, I find the gun-toting Christians to be weak in faith, and trusting more in gun than God, how ever they justify that. Gun might save your life and property, but it won't save your soul. (The fact that I am not Christian doesn't matter at all. You know I'm right. :-D)
I have lived my whole life in countries with very strict gun control laws, and I don't have any need to carry a gun with me. I have been wishing to have a gun so that I could shoot some of these antisemitic idiots around here though. I think it's a good thing I don't have a gun, because even though I don't think the world would loose anything if there was fewer idiots, but because I don't want to go to jail because of idiots. Then comes the endangered species act... We are presented to poor Lindy Mongiove, handicapped woman, who wanted to build herself a home, near her mother, church and community, but - alas - there was a bird living on her property and she isn't allowed to build her a house! O ve! She is currently living with a friend, showers in the backyard, poor woman. All because of a bird and ESA. Now, I have compassion to her, it cannot be easy to live in other's corners, when the only obstacle to own living is a bird, but - even though I think human rights trump the animal rights at any time, that it is more important to save the human species before any other species, that I would save a human in need before an animal in need, I don't think one human's discomfort due to her obstinacy is more important that trying to save endangered species. I also don't think 7 billion people have right to push all the other species off this planet, or say "I am a human so I have the right to live where you are living, because you are just an animal". People really don't need to turn any more wilderness into human habitat.
Why cannot she live with her mother? In the program she was saying she wanted to live near her mother, not her family, so I assume her mother lives alone in a house. Lindy is probably never going to marry and get children, she would be living alone - or with her personal assistant - all her life. She would end with two houses when her mother dies.
I'm sorry, Lindy, but I cannot see how your life was destroyed by ESA. Looks to me it was destroyed by your irrational wish to live in your own house, your stubbornness not to change the plan after it has turned out to be difficult or impossible to follow, and stupidity of not finding out if you may build on the property before purchasing it. I'm sure ESA isn't doing much good, I trust Penn and Teller (in spite of it all), but Lindy isn't a good example of a person whose life was destroyed by ESA.

Laughing at witches, new-age people, tarot readers, feng shui and alternative therapy methods like homeopathy or reflexology is all fine by me, even though I am one of the people they would be laughing at. I believe there is more in the life than what can be observed, measured and tested, but I have no problems with other people believing differently. I start getting "problems", when people find my beliefs "offensive", try to limit my right to believe any BS I want to believe in, try to force me to believe their beliefs, and punish me if I refuse, by getting verbally abusive and so on.

Thoughts about human rights

When I started hosting Human Rights Network at Care2 2004 I was very hopeful. I have always loved UN and the first thing I posted as a host was an effort to create discussion about the UN Declaration of Human Rights. I posted each article, and sat down to wait for responses. I thought every member of HRN was just as enthusiastic about human rights as I was, and I was expecting to be informed and educated about how the human rights are being violated all over the world, what can be done about it, what good is already being done - and no-one was interested in having the discussion.

During the following 4 years I tried to engage the members in different issues, but it just didn't work. If people wanted to talk, they would talk about
a) their own personal problems, or the problems their cousins, friends, family members had.
b) USA
c) their own personal pet peeves, like Tibet or Israel-Palestine. ESPECIALLY Israel-Palestine
d) animal rights

People just are not interested in human rights in general. What happens in Rwanda or Sudan is rather uninteresting. What happens in Israel, how ever small it is, is very interesting and people are ready to walk over corpses to scream at Israel. I have never understood this mentality.

The so-called Pro-Palestinians don't care one bit about Palestinians.

They are not the least interested on whether the aid from "Ships to Gaza" ever got to Palestine. The main interest is whether the ships got to Gaza. They could just as well send empty ships with the intention to break the blockade. It would cost less, and if Israel sank the ships they could invent hundreds of names of people on board who were "brutally murdered by Israeli pirates" or something. Frankly, they could sink the ship themselves, if it doesn't reach Gaza and THEN scream about the hundreds of INNOCENT CIVILIANS BRUTALLY MURDERED BY THE EVIL EUROPEAN COLONIAL POWER. That way they would reach the exact goal they want to reach.

It is tragicomic to watch how these so-called Pro-Palestinians make criminals of European politicians and peace prize winners, who don't even understand what is happening...
If two entities are at war with each other, it is the international law of wartime that counts.
According to this law, it is fully legal for Israel to put Gaza under blockade and stop every ship on its way to Gaza to go through the cargo. If they find nothing suspect and IF THEY ARE NOT RESISTED IN THIS, they must let the ship pass. If the ships won't stop and let the Israelis in for the inspection, if the Israelis are attacked in any way on the ship or from the ship, (yes, water cannons count), if they are obstructed, disturbed, hindered, stopped or refused to check the cargo in any way, the people on ship has turned from "civilian aid workers" to "unlawful combatants", and they may be detained by Israel and prosecuted under Israeli laws. Oops...

Israel-Palestine doesn't even get to the list. You see, how ever black the so-called pro-Palestinians paint the situation, the situation is much worse in many other places here on earth. 2009 one Swedish idiot said Gaza war was "the genocide of the year". It's not even a genocide. At the same time, in Darfur millions of people have lost their homes, hundreds of thousands have been killed, people are being raped, mamed and tortured right and left, no-one is safe... but that about 1500 Palestinians were killed IN A WAR, that's much, much worse.

Really - the main factor of genocide is "aim to exterminate a group of people".
Now, Israel is one of the strongest military powers in the world. The so-called pro-Palestinians claim that Israel is ruthless, hateful, cruel and inhumane, only after to humiliate and kill Palestinians. Why haven't they done it already? If their goal would be to kill all Palestinians on earth, why don't they? What are they waiting for?
They could have done it in the 60's and 70's and no-one would have cared one bit.
They could do it now, and then have the country revolt against their leaders and leave the leaders to Hague to be condemned for crimes against humanity and genocide of the Palestinian people. That would leave the rest of Israel free from the "Palestinian problem".
They haven't done this, and there are no signs of that they would even consider this.

Apartheid, yes, inhumane treatment of people, yes, illegal actions, violating the international laws, failure to acceptably provide proper living conditions, food, water, shelter, protection, and so on and so forth - yes. Quite enough to prosecute Israel's leaders for crimes against humanity. But genocide? No.
Was what happened on Mavi Marmara a massacre? No. A massacre is "the unnecessary, indiscriminate killing of a large number of human beings, as in barbarous warfare or persecution or for revenge or plunder." At Mavi Marmara 10 men, who were involved in armed fighting, died. (Yes, armed - knives, slingshots and iron pipes count as arms. You can kill a person with those things.) Not "indiscriminate" killing of "unarmed people".
Was it an act of piracy? No. Piracy is "illegal violence at sea". Israel's violence was legal.
One can discuss if it was proportionate, but we know the Israeli soldiers had a reason to fear for their lives, so self-defense is a credible explanation.

One thing is sure - as we cannot accept Israel's investigation, because Israel is involved in the incident, we cannot accept the "eye witness reports" either, as they too were involved in the incident, and I'm sure one can find enough evidence of their negative attitude towards Israel. They would interpret anything they see to be negative for Israel, and, frankly, after having discussed with dozens if not hundreds of the so-called Pro-Palestinians, I haven't so far met more than one or two who actually CAN have a DISCUSSION - I'm sure they would lie, exaggerate the bad things, not mention the good things, cheat and deceive as much as they can, just to make Israel look bad. We have already seen this happen - "piracy", "massacre", "illegal attack", "innocent civilians", "unarmed aid workers" and what not.

Nevertheless, the Swedish newspapers had the Ships to Gaza as front page news FOR A WEEK.
During the same week following things happened:
They found a mass grave in Mexico
Six Turkish soldiers are killed in a rocket attack by assumably Kurdish rebels
A Christian bishop is murdered in his own garden by his driver in Turkey.
Gunmen storm a hospital in Pakistan and kill 5
At least 12 are killed and 25 injured in Cumbria shootings.
18 people were executed in Libya
15 die in a minibus accident in the Philippines
14 people die when a house collapses in Bangladesh. A couple of days later 109 people dies in a fire, at least 50 are injured.
3 people are killed and 6 wounded when a WWII bomb explodes in Germany
Hundreds of people are killed in a heatwave in South Asia.
A national peace conference opens in Kabul and is attacked by rockets, shootings and a suicide bomber.
At least 20 are killed and 60 injured in fighting between government forces and islamist militants in Somalia.

Dozens die in landslides and flooding in china
163 people die from lead poisoning in Nigeria

Not one of these news was considered more important or interesting than bickering about Ships to Gaza. Of course it's more important to hear how a Swedish religion professor whines about how he lost his suitcase in the incident.

Here's another stupid young Usonian girl. The picture series is from a video, about 1:05-1:10. It shows young palestinian men throwing stones at a roadblock in Jerusalem. I walked here some 20 years ago... no roadblocks, no stone throwing, no soldiers... Nevertheless, the white puffs are gas the israeli soldiers shoot at the stonethrowers. In the right side we can see a young woman dressed in black, standing and watching, probably her friends. The friends are hard to see, but we can see the woman start running in the middle of the road, disappear behind a block and then emerge dragging another figure. That figure is Emily Henochewicz, a Usonian art student, studying in Jerusalem, and on her free time participating in demonstrations. She is active in International Solidarity Movement. She - or at least her friends - are very active in the internet bashing Israel and telling everyone how horribly violent Israel is, especially towards the "peaceful Palestinians" (e.g. the young men throwing stones in this video). Nevertheless she doesn't have enough understanding to MOVE AWAY FROM THE STONE THROWING BOYS, even though she can see the Israeli military some 100 meters away. The video is filmed from about the point of the soldiers. We see what they saw. I didn't even notice the group of demonstrators in the middle of the road, before the man with the flag started moving towards left, after the stone-throwers.

There is video evidence of that they did not open fire on the "hundreds of unarmed civilians aboard", but as self defense, and that obviously metal sticks, knifes and slingshots are considered as "no weapons of any kind". *sigh*

So, another stupid Usonian gets hurt because she isn't thinking and using any self survival instinct. I remember when I came home from Israel... we weren't allowed to go to Eilat, because a French tourist had been killed there. I remember visiting Golan, we were told not to go off road because the land was still filled with landmines from the war... I remember watching the ruins of houses that had been fired at and what it made me feel... and how I threw myself on the ground when I, after having returned, heard a sharp bang... in Stockholm Central Station... And these people don't even have the wits to move away from the way of bulldozers, bullets and gas canisters.

Israel stopped the aid ships, boarded them and saw them to the harbor in Ashdod. What happened after that to the aid? I seem to be the only one interested. :-Z These so-called pro-Palestinians are only screaming about their own people being harmed as a consequence of their own violent attacks on Israeli soldiers.

Massacre is when you kill people who cannot defend themselves. It is not a massacre when people get killed in a fight. The activists on the ship started the fighting and therefore are responsible for all the deaths. If the investigation doesn't come to this conclusion, it is not impartial. :->

One can discuss whether the naval blockade is legal, but as it is now, there IS a naval blockade and as it is so, Israel has the right to stop and visit any ships trying to break the blockade, and it doesn't matter one bit whether they are on Israeli waters or international waters. It was not an attack, it was not an act of piracy (Come on!), it was not murder, slaughter or massacre.

Considering that during the five first months of 2010, there has been at least 57 rockets and mortars fired from Gaza to Israel, in my mind that counts as armed conflict, and as there is an armed conflict going on, there is legal justification for the Naval blockade.

BTW, it was only on March 18th when one of these attacks happened during the "European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs Lady Catherine Ashton" visit on Gaza strip, when the world reacted. THEN it was called "act of terror" and "violence against civilians". All the 56 other "acts of terror" and "violence against civilians" have passed unnoticed and uncondemned, even when people have been killed and damaged in these attacks.

My husband says "it doesn't matter what Israel does, it's condemned anyway, simply because it's Israel. Just drop all the Palestinians in Jordania, Egypt and Lebanon and get it over and done with."
I say "It's not enough. Israel must kill every Palestinian in the world and then give the people responsible - some hundred or thousand Israeli Jews - to the world to be sacrificed so that the rest of Israelis can live their lives in peace. Yes, I am 100% certain that the "peace-loving pacifist aid workers" had both weapons on board and that they weren't afraid to use violence. Just look at Bilin. That's supposed to be "peaceful demonstrations in Gandhi's spirit", and they throw stones and say that violence, terrorism, suicide bombings and rockets are "the only way" for Palestine. That is what these so-called pacifists are in reality. Nothing to do with pacifism and passive resistance. Gandhi would have cried.

That I think Israel's rules are stupid and that they should allow shipments to Gaza is irrelevant. Civil disobedience doesn't apply in international situations. That Rachel presumably saw him doesn't mean he saw her.

Then the current Israeli leaders could surrender, be convicted in Hague to be executed for their crimes against humanity, human rights and international laws, and they would leave their descendants an Israel free of the "Palestinian problem". It's starting to look like a reasonable prize to be paid. Just look at Germany today. "It was the previous generation, not us." They solved their "Jew problem", and now the country is relatively Jew-free. Perhaps the Israelis should learn from the history, and see how Germany could survive genocide of Jews, how Turkey could survive genocide of Armenians, how Serbia could survive genocide, and just do it.

Nancy Pelosi visited Syria some time ago, and while visiting a mosque, she showed some respect to the country's native traditions and covered her hair. Just the way I do when I visit a church, a synagogue, or any other "holy place" where the women are used to cover their hair.

I don't do it to show any obedience to the religion or the people following that religion, I'm Pagan and happily so, and will never be anything else, I do it to show common courtesy to my fellow human beings by following their rules as long as I am in their place.

When in USA, the visitors follow the USonian customs, traditions and laws,
when in Syria, the visitors follow the Syrian customs, traditions and laws.

Nancy Pelosi didn't wear a hijab. Claiming that she did shows an inexcusable ignorance on what is hijab. Her hair is showing and considering that her scarf is of silk, it is rather slippery and can slide off her hair at any moment. They say she was wearing a black abaya. So what? Probably her normal dress wasn't as modest as is expected when visiting a mosque in an Islamic country, and someone found her an abaya. An abaya is a garment that covers your body except for your hands, head and feet. It doesn't MEAN anything. You are not this or that if you wear one, neither are you saying anything with it. It's a piece of clothing, nothing more, nothing less.

Besides, Islam is not the enemy. If you think it is, you are a xenophobic idiot; islamophobe and stupid as all xenophobes are.
Syria and Syria's President have never attacked USA in any way or manner. They MIGHT WANT to, but that is a totally different issue. Making people your enemies, because they MIGHT WANT to do bad things to you, puts you against the whole world. In that position, you shouldn't be wondering why "everyone hates USA". Look at yourself. It's YOU who hate everyone.

A square scarf has been part of the Western national costumes for more than 500 years.

We have people boycotting Israeli products and demanding the state puts Israel in embargo.

We have artists praising suicide murderers (oh, sure, Dror Feiler is born Israeli and Jewish - AND? Obviously people have not heard of anti-Israeli Jews... :->) in the name of artistic expression, when "Mohammed as a traffic circle dog" is condemned and the artist silenced.
(The Swedish Government, BTW, told also President Ahmadinejad that the Swedish government does not get involved with what the newspapers write, but no-one raised the discussion of Ahmadinejad's motifs and sanity, like they now are doing with Netanyahu and Lieberman...)

The press is very Pro-Palestinian. Every Anti-Israeli news is given the first page, any pro-Israeli news or corrections to the lies is given a tiny note somewhere on the page 6, which no-one ever reads. There was one day when a Palestinian terrorist killed a lot of people - the first page of the biggest newspaper in the country was about how hard it is for the Palestinians on West Bank to get to their work in Israel. The terrorist news was a small note inside the newspaper.
Some newspapers, like Aftonbladet, will publish any crap as long as it attacks Israel and praises Palestine, never mind truth and journalistic integrity.
We have dozens of books telling how awful Israel is and how peaceloving and kind people the Palestinians are (yes, it's always "Big Bad Israel" and "innocent Palestinians". Then Hanan Ashrawi gets in the air very upset trying to pull the fairytale of the Palestinians NOT doing that, "they were celebrating because someone - probably an Israeli infilter - gave them cake"... She is saying that 95% of the Arabs dance on the streets because the Untouchable Satan finally got touched, and 5% of them dance on the streets because they got cake... Some mighty cake that is... But the Swedes believed that and so did every other Pro-Palestinian. Of course the Palestinians are not normal human beings, they are all angels and saints that would not joy for other people's misery!

I just saw part of a documentary about Palestinian female suicide bombers.

One young woman was to bomb a hospital, but before she managed to do that, she was burned badly in a gas accident, rushed into the very same hospital she was supposed to bomb, tended there for weeks, rescued and let back into her life. She says she is still prepared to bomb the hospital. It doesn't matter that the hospital saved her life, it's Israeli. The journalist asked her if it would matter if there were children in the hospital, and she said "yes, sure, if they were Palestinian children, but if they were Israeli children, no, it wouldn't matter. They kill Palestinian children".

The world is right now very upset because the Israelis supposedly bombed hospitals in Gaza. What's the difference? This woman is just as "good" as the Israelis who allegedly bombed Palestinian hospitals, no difference. Still these so-called Pro-Palestinians and the poor, innocent, defenseless Palestinians who accuse Israelis of bombing a hospital, praise this woman, her courage and her devotion... they make her a martyr. Well... guess what. Not one person (Israeli or Palestinian) who attacks (or plans to attack) a hospital goes to heaven, what ever who ever promises you.
The Israeli children are just as innocent as the Palestinian children. Sure, the Israeli children wrote greetings to mr. Hasrallah on the rockets at the Lebanese war, but the Palestinian children are taught to chant death to Jews. (Not occupiers, not nazis, not Israelis, Jews.) Not one person killing (planning to kill, ignoring if they kill) children (which ever children) goes to heaven either.
People like this won't get 72 houris to serve them, they get 72 furies to haunt them, dead and alive.

I had to close the tv after 15 minutes of "burn in hell, you bitch, burn in hell, you devil's whore, burn in hell, burn in hell..." I even thought that the Israelis are doing God's work: "May your children burn in front of your eyes, so that they don't carry on your wickedness. May your life be hell, you bitch!" It took me almost half an hour to calm down. I am not involved in any way. How crazy by hatred must the Israelis and Palestinians be? Both sides think that the other side's children are born murderers, evil to the bone, deserving to die... Both sides think that the only good person of the other people is dead person, and killing the other is a good deed... Hatred keeps birthing more hatred, more death, more anger, more revenge, thousand eyes for an eye, thousand teeth for one tooth, thousand lives for one life.

No. No Palestinian children, no Israeli children, children. Don't ask the nationality of the child, the ethnicity, the color of the child's skin, the child's religion. It's a child.

Hamas didn't manage to use the situation very well... after trying to use the war against Israel as a smoke screen to get rid of all the political enemies and after stealing the aid transports, Hamas isn't very high up on the human rights organizations' list right now. Now Amnesty International is demanding a weapon embargo against Hamas too...

"The London-based human rights group said it had found evidence that Israel and Hamas had both used weapons supplied from overseas to carry out attacks on civilians, accusing both sides of committing war crimes during the three-week conflict at the start of the year."

I find it interesting, though, that NOW no so-called Pro-Palestinian mentions that Hamas is actually the democratically elected government of Palestine, and therefore represents the whole Palestinian people... what Hamas does is what Palestine does just as what the GOI does is what Israel does...

So - people are saying that Israelis owe the Gazan civilians reparations... Now, that depends totally on whether Gaza is occupied or not. In reality it hasn't been occupied since 2005. Some people seem to think that as long as Israel occupies ANY Palestinian territory, it occupies EVERY Palestinian territory. To my astonishment this idea is shared by a large chunk of UN. Basically they are saying that Ireland is wholly occupied by UK, as UK is still occupying the Northern Ireland. It is not only Ireland and UK who laugh at this idea, the whole world laughs with them, but for some reason the same logic is not used in the Israel-Palestine situation.
No, Gaza is not occupied and Israel owes no reparations.

They are demanding that President Obama sees that Israel complies to the UN resolution 1860. They aren't demanding that Palestine complies to the same resolution... Sure, there is no state of Palestine that is a full member of UN and therefore there are no resolutions against Palestine... but that's not the truth, really, is it. :-> The resolution 1860 actually includes demands on Palestine and its government - or both governments - and by recalling the resolutions given before PA became involved in UN and to this day didn't need to care for, UN security council made the Palestinians responsible for following these resolutions as well.

So what do these resolutions say?

Has Palestine/Gaza/Hamas stopped? No. Last week there were at least five rockets sent from Gaza to Israel.
Why aren't these so-called pro-Palestinians demanding Gaza respects and honors the UN resolutions they are so angry to Israel for not doing?

resolution 1397 demanded "immediate cessation of all acts of violence, including all acts of terror, provocation, incitement and destruction".
It doesn't only speak to Israel, but to ALL STATES AND ACTORS IN THE AREA - including Palestine, Lebanon, Hamas, Hizbullah, and others.

Resolution 1850, among other things, demand that Palestinian government recognizes Israel.

Resolution 242 requires the application of this principle:
"Termination of all claims or states of belligerency and
respect for and acknowledgement of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of every State in the area and their right to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries free from threats or acts of force"
Another resolution Palestine is not complying to...

Resolution 338 "decides that, immediately and concurrently with the cease-fire, negotiations shall start between the parties concerned under appropriate auspices aimed at establishing a just and durable peace in the Middle East"
A government that denies any possibility of negotiations and that considers negotiation with Israel to be a treason is ignoring this UN resolution. Do the so-called Pro-Palestinian mind? Not the least.

The UN security council resolutions recalled also demand the implementation of the Tenet work plan, Mitchell Report recommendations, the Madrid Principles AND the Performance-Based Roadmap. These don't give only Israel obligations and responsibilities...

It is not President Obama's responsibility to see that Israel and Palestine respect the International Laws and UN resolutions. It is the responsibility of the democratically elected governments and leaders of Israel AND Palestine. Actually, what has been demanded of Hamas - which the so-called Pro-Palestinians claim are unreasonable demands - to recognize Israel, to respect the agreements of previous Palestinian governments and to stop the violence - are only requests to comply to the UN resolutions. It shouldn't be unreasonable, unfair nor impossible.

A Swedish social democratic politician thinks Israel's attack on Gaza during the last days of 2008 was the "genocide of the year". I commented on this, pointing out some of the incidents where more people have been killed, people who have NOT been shooting rockets at other people, during 2008. I went to Genocide Watch, Stop Genocide Now, Genocide Intervention Net and Genocide Info, and for some reason none of these sites reckon Gaza as a genocidial problem.

Navi Pillay, UN's High COmmissioner for Human Rights, when asked whether the Israeli Government’s blockade of Gaza and prevention of humanitarian aid from reaching the territory’s Palestinian population was genocide, said it was up to the courts to examine, on a case-by-case basis, whether genocide had occurred.
(Navanethem Pillay is a judge from RSA and was working as an attorney in RSA frm 1967 to 1995, providing legal defence for opponents of apartheid. She was born 1941 as a daughter of a bus driver from a poor Indian section of Durban, so she knows very well the apartheid problematics.)

Genocide is defined as certain acts committed with intent to destroy a national, ethnical, racial or religious group.
War is not a genocide, though genocide can happen during wartime.
Efforts to kill all the members of Hamas, Hizbullah, Islamic Jihad, Al-Aqsa Martyrs and what ever they call themselves is not a genocide.

Gaza blockade fulfills the definition in that it is "a certain act" - "inflicting on the group conditions of life" and "serious bodily or mental harm", and because the people living in Gaza are almost only Palestinians. The problem lies in "intention to destroy". (In fact, Hamas IS involved in genocide by its clearly expressed intention to empty "Palestine" of Jews through violent means. Their effectivity and resources are totally irrelevant.)

I don't think Gaza blockade counts as genocide. It doesn't make it ok, naturally, but things doesn't need to be super horrible to be bad. I dislike exaggerations and sensationalism. Makes me think "if the situation isn't bad enough as it is, but must be colored, magnified, boosted and retouched, then the situation probably isn't bad at all."

I neither think the current attack on Gaza is a genocide. IF the Palestinians hadn't used the time to shooting rockets on Israel, THEN I might agree. IF Gaza had used the opportunity of Israel leaving the area to build up the area, to build the port, to open up for a peaceful interaction with Egypt, Europe, Jordan and other countries - it wouldn't have needed to do any business with Israel.

(Might have been a good idea to accept the water offer though. How many of you know that Israel has offered to GIVE water to Gaza from the same desalination plant that provides water to southern Israel? That Gaza refused to accept anything from Israel? That Gaza shoots at the desalination plant? That Gaza dumps untreated sewage in the Mediterranean to "punish" Israel? How many of you know that Israel STILL funds Gaza's sewage treatment plants, provides them with all the necessary parts and the fuel needed to run the plants, but that Gazans sabotage the plants, because of this and because it harms Israel? How many of you know that Israel reuses sewage water to water the agriculture, while Palestine uses pure drinking water? How many of you know that Gaza refuses to accept any desalination plants, even though USA and Israel are willing to build them, for free, simply because it is USA and Israel who are offering this deal. How many of you know that Gaza demands a waterline from Jordan and West Bank aquifiers even though Jordan needs to water almost the whole Jordania and it would be water economically sounder to desalinate sea water?)

It didn't. President Abbas tried, but Hamas used the time to complain, to accuse, to attack.
Sure, Israel froze the tax money, BUT ONLY FOR A YEAR. President Abbas managed to negotiate forth the payment of the money, which was supposed to go to humanitarian needs. The Palestinians used the money to pay the salaries in stead... No "Pro-Palestinian" has mentioned that the tax money has been paid to PA, as it was supposed to.
Sure, some other countries, among them EU, stopped giving monetary aid to Palestine as well, but it was conditional. Hamas would have gotten the money, if they'd only recognize Israel, renounce the violence and respect earlier agreements. Hamas refused.
Now, Israel exists. Israel is a fact. You don't have to like the fact, but to refuse to acknowledge a fact for a principle, when the people you have promised to govern fairly and well is starving...? Stupid, fundamentalist stubborness.
Renounce the violence? Easy. No-one expected more than "we won't attack, but we will defend ourselves when attacked". Hamas thinks that's not fair... Neither do the "Pro-Palestinians". As said, "truce a la Hamas: we may try to damage you as much as we can, you may not even think of responding."
Respecting earlier agreements? A government that won't respect the deals and agreements the earlier governments have committed to, is not worth the positition.
Hamas was not ready for a political assignment. It's still just a terrorist organization. "Resistance fighters" are not good politicians. The expectations and qualifications are too different. (Fatah and President Abbas are a good example of that a "resistance fighter" can BECOME a politician. One needs to be mature enough to overlook the personal emotions and grievances, stop reacting and start thinking.)

Palestinians' birth rate is higher because they are in such a difficult situation - economical crisis, war makes people breed. If Israel wanted to diminish the births, Israel should better their situation, especially the women's situation. The more educated and socially free a woman is, the lesser children she'll have.

If Israel was a true liberal democracy, not only for Jews but for all of its citizens, the Jews wouldn't need to worry about being fewer than non-Jews. I'm Finnish and we used to be under Swedish rule. Today we have a Finnish Swedish minority, with a clearly defined own culture and language. Finland is known all over the world with its Swedish name. Finland has two official languages. I don't see any problems in taking this course in Israel.
Let all who want call it Israel and all who want call it Palestine.
Make Israel and Arabic the official languages (as Philistine is forgotten).
Let everyone live where they want to live.
In my mind, when both parties want the land "from the river to the sea", both parties should share it. Not fight about which piece is mine and which is yours and what should this speck of dirt be called.

Hamas IS Israel's enemy. Claiming anything else would be stupid. Israel has no obligation to try to make things smooth for Hamas. No state is obligated to have good relations with other states. Hamas doesn't NEED to recognize Israel, Israel doesn't NEED to recognize Hamas as the governing party of Palestine. As simple as that.
Claiming that the Palestinian people wanted Hamas is not quite true either. Yes, Hamas won the democratic election of Palestine - with about 5 units. They didn't get even half of the votes. Meaning that at least 3/5 of Palestinians did NOT want Hamas. Many who voted for Hamas would not vote for them today.

When the Romans came, the population consisted mostly of Nabateans and Bedouins. Even though it was part of Greater Israel, and there has been Jews living in the area for at least 4000 years, they have been very few and they were mostly herds...
What is happening in Negev with the Bedouin is really upsetting. Reminds me of the fights between the Sapmi people and the governments of Finland, Sweden, Norway and Russia. The Bedouins have been living alone, in peace, in Negev for the last 1000 years, and they haven't damaged the "sensitive nature" during that time, so claiming that they'd do that is ridiculous and preposterous. Bad Israel!

At least the Palestinians living in Israel Proper have the right to become Israeli citizens. Now, if you don't want to live in Israel, why should you? If you want to live in Palestine, you should be able to live in Palestine. If Palestine is supposed to be "within the -67 borders", that doesn't include Israel Proper. If you want to live in Palestine, but currently live in Israel, you HAVE to move. This too is a simple fact, not some "ethnic cleansing sceme". Now, taking the Jewish settlers out of the West Bank and replacing them with the Palestinians currently living in Israel Proper who doesn't want to become Israelis - what wrong with that? In what way is that "ethnic cleansing"?

We have a politician who "called for "expanding the sphere of resistance" against "Israel's dictates" so that "people can carry on with the struggle." Bishara praised Hizbullah as a "heroic" example of "Islamic resistance." Eh...? When he was facing the trial, he chose to flee in stead of stand, like Sheikh Raad Saladh, who also sat his three years in prison and is more popular today than ever.
We have a Jewish woman, who went to Jenin to help the Palestinians. "The girl who crossed the line". As far as I know, she hasn't done anything bad, just stupid. (I'm not talking about going to Jenin and trying to help the children. That's not stupid.) Sounds more like Israel's Jane Fonda. She got three years, she too. Later when Zakari Zubeidi requested a leave from his house arrest to get some ward to his hurt eyes, she called him "the whore of the security service". She has been calling people this and that, and probably she thinks terrorism is the way to go for the Palestinian people. "Intifada visar vägen (Intifada shows the road)", as they were chanting here 10 years ago in a demonstration against Israel. Unfortunately, Intifada shows the road to hell - for all. None of the intifadas have brought anything good to the Palestinians. Intifada shows the road to the Wall. Intifada shows the road to Gaza's blockade.
Is it wrong? Does it warrant being thrown to jail for three years? I wouldn't be surprised if she was just like every other "Pro-Palestinian" I've met. It is interesting how easily good intentions and compassion can be turned into hatred and rigidity. Three years in jail, won't work. On the contrary.

Main point, I think, is that I don't believe Israel needs to have the majority of Jews to be the Jewish state. The idea is to give a land to people with no land. A place to call "home". It doesn't matter if my home is shared by others, as long as I can come home when the going gets tough. It doesn't matter who leads the country, if he/she isn't giving his/her own people any benefits. It doesn't matter who watches over the holy places as long as I have an access to them and it is guaranteed that the holy places aren't denigrated. So it doesn't matter if the Jews are a 1/3 minority of Israel.

But Israel seems to think otherwise. The Arabs seem to think otherwise. Pro-Palestinians seem to think otherwise. So, the time being, Israel MUST have the majority of Jews to be able to stay a Jewish state.

Actually it is not false nor Zionist. We are talking about the British mandate of Palestine, which included both Trans-Jordanian Palestine and Coastal Palestine. "Trans-" means meaning "across", "beyond", "through". More than 70% of the British Palestine was on the "other side" of Jordan.

Interesting is that this FACT is called "dangerous and false Zionist claim". It is because the Jordanians know well, that they live in the land area put aside to be given to the Arab inhabitants of the British Palestine, and that Israel - the "occupied areas" included - is the land area put aside to be given to the Jewish inhabitants of the Ottoman empire - all according to the agreements made before WWI and the war against the Ottoman empire - all the people living in the Ottoman empire who would help Great Britain and France against the Ottomans would be rewarded with a land of their own. If people knew this, they might not be so eager to think there is a Palestinian people whose land was stolen BY THE JEWS, when in fact it was "stolen" by Arabs.
Arabs never acknowledged the Jews' right to get their reward in land for what they did to aid the Brits and the French during the breakage of the Ottoman empire. In fact, the Arabs never acknowledged ANYONE ELSE'S RIGHT TO LAND EITHER.

Circassians, for example, are a people who asked for a state of their own, and was turned down by the French and later by the Arabs. Assyrians don't have a country of their own and are persecuted in the countries they live. Kurds don't have an own country. Jews are being discriminated against everywhere in the Middle East, except in Israel, and in some cases even there. (Some of the ethnic Jews immigrating from Russia are antisemites, some orthodox Jewish groups discriminate every non-orthodox Jewish group.)

P.P.S. "Antisemite" is a misnomer, meaning, it has nothing to do with the Semitic people or people speaking Semitic languages. It means explicitly "Jew-hate". It is well established and there are no reasons to change the meaning of the word to include all "Semitic" people - or to exclude the Semitic people from suspicion of being antisemitic.

I know 1/4 of the dead people shouldn't have died - civilians, children, people who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and neither SHOULD be wrong. The Gazan civilians are NOT in the wrong place and this is their time, why would it be "the wrong time"?

It SHOULD be safe for a father to send his son to buy tobacco.

It SHOULD be safe for a teenager or young adult to go home to his parents when something like this happens - be it a natural or man made catastrophe.

But "discussing" with the so-called "Pro-Palestinians", "peace activist, human rights activists, politicians", who don't even care about more than one side of the issue, whose history in the Levant started some time in the 20th century, who only accept "news items" from people who think exactly like themselves, and call everything else "propaganda", usually add "evil" and "Zionazi" as prefixes, quoting the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" and "Jewwatch", has made me suspect everything they say.

In today's newspaper was an interview with The Commissioner-General of United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) Karen Abu Zayd.

Yesterday Israel allowed in yet another big aid package.
Did mrs Abu Zayd mention this in the interview? No.
Did the newspaper? Yes. But the headline of the article was "Israeli blockade stops help to Gaza" - on the front page. With a picture of a woman with her lap full of toys in plastic bags, in a bombed building. She is told to be a "Palestinian woman gathering toys in a kindergarten destroyed in a flight attack in northern Gaza". The biggest headline in the page was "more reports on poisoned food". Obviously Israel didn't kill many persons yesterday >:->

Anyway, mrs Abu Zayd was complaining about Israel.

Gaza's aid storages are empty, because of the blockade.

Why is there a blockade, mrs Abu Zayd? Could it possibly have something to do with the FACT that Gaza has been shooting at Israel 360 days of 365 since Israel emptied the area of Israelis. Do you even remember that there was no blockade until Hamas showed beyond any doubts what they are up to (by turning on their brothers, Fatah)? I bet you don't.
I also bet that you don't think there are any problems with Hamas' agenda. >:->

You know what, EVERY COUNTRY HAS THE SOLE RIGHT TO DECIDE ABOUT AND USE BLOCKADE AGAINST THEIR NEIGHBORS AT WILL. What can be discussed here is the Mediterranean sea and where are the borders on waters, and what Egypt does with its border. It shouldn't have anything to do with Israel. In 2005, two months after Israel left Gaza, the negotiations were successful and President Abbas managed to get the border open, a sea port was agreed upon as well as a regular buss route between Gaza and West Bank. Two months later Hamas wins the election, within a year the situation between Hamas and Fatah explodes, and Egypt closes the border. They don't want Hamas to control the border. Israel didn't ask Egypt to do so, Israel didn't tell Egypt to do so. Egypt did it all by itself, because Hamas stinks. And, frankly, Egypt may do so. But - Israel is The Big Devil and all the so-called Pro-Palestinians are convinced that Israel wants all the Palestinians dead. So it would be stupid to expect Israel to do anything about the Palestinian suffering... not so with Egypt. Why isn't mrs. Abu Zayd bugging Egypt on letting the humanitarian aid forth?

Mrs Abu Zayd also thinks that Israel uses " an inproportionate amount of violence" in this conflict.
Well... Karen... all about numbers, huh? Israel hasn't shot as many rockets into Gaza as Gaza has shot into Israel.
Every human being in the world knows that Israel is stronger than Gaza. Why isn't Hamas protecting the Palestinians better by not picking a fight with Israel? Why isn't Hamas taking their responsibility as the governing political party it claims to be, but acts like the terrorist organization it is? I don't think anyone would accept such childish, egocentric and emotional behavior of any other ruling party. For some reason it's quite acceptable, even desirable behavior, when it comes from a Palestinian ruling party. I am so impressed by President Abbas, who in my mind is the only sane person in this play. I fear he won't be elected president in the next election, I fear that Hamas will see to that there will be no more elections, ever, or that the elections are more or less rigged, with people being forced to vote for them, people being killed if they don't vote for Hamas, people being terrorized and threatened to not vote. I am also sure that when that happens, the so-called Pro-Palestinian Hamas-lovers won't acknowledge it happened.

Another thing she was complaining about was that Israel has shut the bigger border posts. Israel says that they are not safe, because Hamas keeps attacking them, to which mrs Abu Zayd said "well, yes, that happens, occasionally, but..."
Yes, that happens... Hamas keeps attacking the aid transports. Mrs. Abu Zayd acknowledges this fact, but doesn't accept this fact as a reason for Israel to try to protect the border stations nor the aid transports.
Hamas also "kidnaps" the aid transports and delivers them themselves - naturally only to people who "deserve" the aid, that is, people who are Hamas-friendly or have managed to keep their opinions to themselves.
What does mrs. Abu Zayd have to say about this? Nothing. Nothing at all. After all, Hamas won the election... (with 44% against Fatah's 41% >:-> Overwhelming victory, huh? ALL Palestinians wanted Hamas already 2006, huh?)

Dignity was also mentioned in the article, naturally in the "how HORRRIBLE of the AWFUL Israelis to attack a ship carrying AID, medical equipment, personnel, international peace activists and politicians!!!" tone of voice.

What many people don't know is that Dignity is a ship owned by "Free Gaza", which is one of these so-called "Pro-Palestinian" organizations. (Yes, it is. It's not only the "evil, zionist empire" who "labels" the organization that way. But when will we see any kind of honesty and sincerity from these so-called Pro-Palestinians? It's like with the name of the ship... "Dignity" is an idea these people don't even begin to understand.)

I am pretty sure Dignity didn't care to inform Israel about the trip, I'm pretty sure they refused to communicate with the Israeli ships, I'm sure "Free Gaza" refuses to acknowledge Israel's very real fear of that Hamas will use the aid programs to transport terrorists and weapons. We KNOW Hamas has refused to accept any aid from Egypt because they think Egypt is fraternizing with the enemy, and therefore an enemy. So we KNOW that if Hamas accepts aid from "Free Gaza", "Free Gaza" shares Hamas' ideas and therefore IS a possible threat to Israel's safety.

Another little detail I find extremely interesting is what is revealed in the sentence: "what happened in the dark morning, when Israel rammed the civilian ship in international waters, and put the people on board in danger of losing their lives"...
What was a Pro-Palestinian aid ship doing trying to get to Gaza "in the dark morning"?
Sun rose at 8 A.M. It has been rather cloudy this week. Why didn't they adjust the arrival time to the time it was light? It's about 400 km's between Gaza and Cyprus. It takes about 14 hours to get there. Why did Dignity leave Cyprus in the afternoon? Why not in the evening, to be sure to arrive during the bright day light? Why hide in the darkness?

The ship was ordered to stop, because it was noted in the dark morning, trying to get to a military area, unannounced... Dignity refused to stop. Two Israeli ships tried to get Dignity to stop, Dignity tried to break free, and turned in front of the other ship, who didn't have time to avoid "ramming" Dignity, damaging Dignity. The Israeli ships immediately offered help to Dignity, who - of course - refused. Then the Israeli ships escorted the damaged ship to the closest port they accepted, which was Tyre, Lebanon. Of course they wouldn't go to an ISRAELI port, even though that would mean that the medical equipment and personnel could have been transported swiftly to Gaza by the "correct" route.

You see, these people don't much care about getting the aid to Gaza ANY WAYS POSSIBLE. They want to take their own way or no way. It is far more effective to cry about the rude Israelis who stop AN AID TRANSPORT, because the world doesn't care one bit about that a well-known Pro-Palestinian ship filled with people who doesn't care if Israelis get damaged, because they are "just illegal occupiers of the innocent Palestinians' land" tries to get into a war zone in the middle of the night and refuses to communicate because THEY think it's not Israelis' business...

Also, "Free Gaza"s story changes all the time.
Yesterday I saw the news and Dignity's crew said there were several Israeli ships in the area, but there were only two that came to Dignity.
On "Free Gaza"s site it is said "The Dignity has been surrounded by at least half-a-dozen Israeli warships."
Angela Goldfried of the Free Gaza Movement, who was in contact with the passengers of the boat told Ynet, "Our ship was circled by 11 navy ships that fired at it and collided with it in international waters".
Caoimhe Butterly, an organizer with the Free Gaza Movement, stated that, "The gunboats gave us no warning. They came up out of the darkness firing flares and flashing huge flood lights into our faces. We were so shocked that at first we didn't react. We knew we were well within international waters and supposedly safe from attack. They rammed us three times, hitting the side of the boat hard. We began taking on water and, for a few minutes, we all feared for our lives. After they rammed us, they started screaming at us as we were frantically getting the life boats ready and putting on our life jackets. They kept yelling that if we didn't turn back they would shoot us."
Yeah... tomorrow the story will have grown so that there was two dozen ships, who tried to run over Dignity and I suppose there was also some Israelis shooting directly at the passengers. Next week we'll hear that Dignity was actually sank by Israeli army, and it was filled with Palestinian sick children and elderly people who Dignity tried to take to a Cyprian hospital.

This is what "Free Gaza" says about the war so far...
"Israel began Operation "Cast Lead," a military onslaught against the civilian population of the Gaza Strip that has - so far - massacred more than three-hundred men, women, and children, and seriously injured over a thousand."
Hamas says that about 280 of those "more than 300" were Hamas militants. Soldiers, not civilians. Just because Gaza is not an independent country, and thus cannot have a recognized army, doesn't mean all Gazans are civilians... Another "tiny, little insignificant piece of fact" these so-called Pro-Palestinians won't tell you.

Then there are these news... "25% of Gaza killed civilians".
Yeah... actually 15%, according to Hamas, but guess what?
In Iraq, 95% of the killed Iraqis are civilians.
Palestinians' victims during the 2nd Intifada: 68% civilians.
What does that mean?
Among 20 dead, in Gaza 5 are civilians (3 according to Hamas),
when in Iraq 19 are civilians and in Israel 14 were civilians.

Yes, these are just those who were "lucky" enough to die. The amount of the wounded is about 4 times as many. It is clearly impossible for Gaza to see for their needs, and it would be impossible even if everything had been perfect on Friday. But both Israel and Egypt have announced their willingness to provide medical care to anyone in need in Israel and Egypt. But Hamas refuses.
Why? Because they suspect Palestinians wouldn't get sufficient help in Israel and Egypt? No. It is only because Hamas doesn't like Israel nor Egypt.

In a way I am for returning the spoils of war and colonial trophies to the land of their origin. I think Queen Margrethe I's golden dress should be in Denmark, I think Spain and Portugal should return the things they stole from South America, Parthenon marbles should be returned... but then we get to my stumbling stone... Egypt. I dislike mr. Zahi Hawass very much.

I don't think they have any right to ask back things when they (the Egyptians) plundered the tombs, sold the artifacts to highest bidder - some times to the first, best buyer, destroyed and spoiled hundreds of historically interesting pieces, flooded archaeological sites... It is believed that 3/4 of the Egypt's history is still hidden in sand and under the modern cities and buildings. I say to mr. Hawass, first, dig up at least half of that, THEN you can start asking for things "back".

I'm sorry, Zahi, but I'd rather take BOTH the Egyptian Museum at Alte Museum AND British Museum AND have 1000 cronas left to buy souvenirs with... If I'd be American the prize difference is even bigger. They'd get 2000 kronas in pocket money. Besides, the admission to the BM is free... I think I should have the right to see true Egyptian artifacts even though I am poor.

You could also try to replace the things you want back with something. For example, it's not necessary that the obelisk at Place de la Concorde is just the old, original one from Luxor, make them a replica and ask if they'd be kind enough to accept another Egyptian obelisk instead of the one that should be in Luxor. In my mind it doesn't matter one bit whether it is in Luxor or Paris. Luxor wouldn't be any more amazing than it is now if there were two obelisks instead of one.

Also, Rosetta stone as the "icon of Egyptian identity". Bull. If the Egyptians cared about their "Egyptian identity", they'd kept their Egyptian language and writing alive, like the Jews managed to do with their unique language and writing through the centuries.

I read the news of Israel's bombings in Gaza and I am... I find it hard to remember that we are talking about people here. There's so many who seem to think it's ok for Palestinians to kill as many Jews as they can, it's ok for Palestinians to "retaliate" and "defend themselves", but it's not ok for a Jew to break one hair from a Palestinian (or pseudo-Palestinian) head.

There has been no truce. Not 6 months, not one day. Gaza has been shooting at Israel almost every day. Might be that Israelis are lucky, that Gazans are clumsy, that Gazans are only trying to scare Israel, that Gazans are targeting the infrastructure instead of people, what ever the reason, these rockets hasn't killed many Israelis. In my mind shooting at someone is a sign of aggression, whether you succeed to kill the bastard or not. The Israelis count the rockets coming over the border.

The Palestinians count the dead and wounded. I find it interesting that that has not been a practice in wars and conflicts... until now. The Germans during the WWII were not horrible because they killed so many people. Actually, no-one knows for sure how many people they killed. In this conflict, people are actually counting deaths... and what is interesting is that even though the so-called "pro-Palestinians" call Israel with every bad name in the book, Israel hasn't "managed" to kill enough people to even get to the "top ranking 20th century atrocities". One would think they are, as the "Pro-Palestinians" harp. But the truth is that Israel hasn't even killed as many Palestinians as the Muslims killed Armenians only 90 years ago. So if we start counting bodies... No, Israel isn't a big villain even in that way.

Sure, there's about 5 times more Palestinians killed than Israelis, but consider this:
during the five years, USA&Co. has managed to kill about 90.000-100.000 people - the ratio (USA/Iraqis) is about 1/20, not 1/5 as in Israel.
In Sudan about 2.000.000 people died between 1983 and 1998. (about 5-8 %)

In Srebrenica the Serbs killed 2000-8000 Bosniaks IN ONE MONTH.
During Fidel Castro's reign in Cuba 15.000 - 23.000 were killed for their political opinion. So if you count the bodies, Fidel Castro is a bigger butcher than Ariel Sharon.
Sure, there's more Cubans, Sudanese and Iraqis than Palestinians living in Levant, but the death toll is even procentually smaller - doesn't reach one percent.

I'm sorry, but Israel just isn't killing "enough" to be counted as a genocidal monster in style of Stalin, Hitler or Mao. Everyone knows they have the opportunity and means to do so.

Another "qualification" needed for something to be a genocide is the intention - and there just isn't enough evidence of Israel's intention to kill all the Palestinians. Old, mispresented and twisted quotes taken out of context just aren't enough.

P.S. The estimates are that Israel killed about 270 people yesterday, of whom more than half were Hamas soldiers. Considering that they are bombing Gaza, where the Hamas soldiers are hiding in the civil population, from aeroplanes, they have managed to diminish the collateral damage amazingly well.

And what do the so called "Pro-Palestinians" do? Think it's OK to kill Israeli children because Israeli soldiers killed Palestinian soldiers, condone more rockets being shot from Gaza to Israel - even though it is clear as day that that was the reason to this Israel's attack. Even though it is a fact that Hamas hasn't kept one day of the truce, that there has been rockets coming from Gaza to Israel FOR YEARS NOW, and the fact that the Israeli troops and settlers left Gaza only made it worse - Israel's presence in Gaza HAS a "calming effect", and the only thing the Palestinian rocket attacks against Israel has caused is the "bloodiest day in the history of Israel-Palestine conflict"... Does Hamas and the so-called "Pro-Palestinians" get the message? No.

Interesting... Yesterday Palestinian terrorists killed two Palestinian little girls in their home, and no-one cared.

One of the wanton bloggers in Sweden expressed her opinion on a Swedish Yule tradition: Karl-Bertil Jonsson's Christmas Eve. She calls this "Communist shit" and wishes the Swedish television would stop broadcasting this kind of idolizing of stealing. She also states that a "good deed" is to buy presents with one's own money and give these to people "who deserve" the gifts. She thinks Yule is the Great Capitalism Feast of the Holy Consumption, and she dislikes that Yule eve would be connected to a "weird twisted image of big, fat Capitalists sucking out the poor people". Capitalism, consumption is what makes the world go round, she says.

So she would replace Karl-Bertil, 14, with herself, 17, shopping till she drops, because THAT is the True Meaning of Christmas...

She is 17 years old, born in a family of highborn-wannabes, rich, of course and lives in the city. She doesn't have the slightest idea of life, exploitation, need, poverty, fear, living from day to day without knowing how to pay rent, how to feed your family, how to find a higher ground... one of my favorite Yule movies is One Magic Christmas with Mary Steenburger. I bet this 17-years old girl hasn't even seen the movie. Not flashy enough for her taste. I can think she likes "Santa Clause" better. Everyone's biggest dream Yule present is something one buys. :-)

She complains about how tired she is having spent the Yule with her family, and then she tells she's going to her boyfriend's apartment (at least that's who I think the guy is - don't know, don't care) and calls it "leaving the nest and trying her wings". ROTFLMAO. I really wish a magic fairy would take her and put her in the shoes of a 17-years-old who is REALLY flying with her own wings... You know, Kipling's "Captains Courageous".

There was a little experiment made here in Sweden. Some politicians were given the opportunity to live like a student - in an average housing with the average funds. Each and every one of them said afterwards "the students don't get enough money". Why is that, you think? Might be, because this little 17-years-old's father and grand-father and their likes stole the money that should have been given to the people who actually did the job... Perhaps?

P.S. I won't say who she is, because a) she doesn't deserve the traffic to her blog and b) she has already been told what an idiot she is, and for no avail, because she is too stubborn, narrowminded, young and inexperienced to understand. It's Chanukkah. I was thinking about the words of Maoz Tzur, "an oppressor came and exiled me... ...at the end of seventy years I was saved".

The Jewish people have tried to live in the land of Israel for millenia, and all the time there have been others who want the land - the Babylonians, the Greeks, the Romans, the Christians, the Muslims... what all these people have in common is that they all have land somewhere else too. They wouldn't NEED Israel, they just WANT it.

I know that the pro-Palestinians say that the Jews "just want it" too. The difference is that the Jews do NOT have a land somewhere else. When the land area was divided after WWI, the Arab population of the area got Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and the Jewish population got Israel... BACK.

Some pro-Palestinians say that the Jews should have been given land from Germany, as it was the Germans who mistreated them during WWII. Or in USA, as USA so much wants to give the Jews a homeland. The thing is that the Jews weren't given a homeland because the Germans tried to kill them all. After all, the Germans were "just" doing what all the people of the world has been doing the last 2000 years. First the Romans started it because the Jews refused to leave monotheism, then the Christians and Muslims continued, because the Jews weren't Christians nor Muslims. This is a fact, my antisemitic readers, not some "Zionist propaganda". The Holocaust was just the culmination of 2000 years of pogroms, discrimination, persecution and xenophobia. That's one of the reasons why the Jews were "given" Israel BACK. The Palestinians, Arabs, Muslims have been just as antisemitic as everyone else, and still are.

Come on, the only, ONLY, reason to why the Palestinians, Arabs, Muslims are against Israel is that now there is a piece of land that is NOT Islamic in Middle-East.

Just look at how the Islamic countries treat the Palestinians living there. Just look at how they treat other minorities, for example the Jews. Here where I live we have a majority of Assyrian and Armenian people who were made refugees by these Islamic countries. They don't care one bit about the Palestinian people, the Philistees, the original Canaanite minority. If Israel didn't exist, you could be 100% certain of that there would not be an independent state of Palestine. When the Arab states attacked Israel 1948 and invaded large parts of the area, they didn't create independent Palestine. They took the land as their own. Golan to Syria, West Bank to Jordan, Gaza to Egypt...
If they REALLY cared so much of Palestinian independence, they would have made these areas Palestinian state, wouldn't they?
They would have accepted the UN division plan 1948 and declared independent Palestine.

Now, some people say that because the Israelis are abusing the Palestinians living in the area, Israel has no right to even exist. That is a really weird way of thinking.
No-one is asking for the dissolution of Lebanon and assigning it to neighboring countries because the Lebanese abuse their Palestinian population, or Jordan, or Syria, or Egypt. In fact, no-one asked for the RSA to be dissolved either. No-one asks for the dissolution of China because of their human rights violations and discrimination of minorities. It can be discussed who is adult, but it should be an undiscutable fact that all adults should have 100% right to decide over their own lives. No-one should make decisions about an adult's life, not how this person should live, whom she should marry, how she should vote, which God to believe, if one is to believe in God or not...

The state - or anyone else for that matter - should not tell the person whom to love. Mothers should leave their adult daughters' sex life to the daughter, parents should not tell their children to marry "this nice boy, who's --- like us" or not to marry "that... person...". Being gay might make your life harder due to the society's prejudices and discriminatory attitude, but, hey, being dark skinned, being Jewish, being this and that makes one's life harder too. That isn't a reason enough to "not to wish that for your child". Some "totally normal" people would tell you that life IS hard. Period. Because the society IS prejudiced and discriminatory, you will be bashed even when you are a pretty blue-eyed and blond woman, Christian, married and a mother, just because you have opinions and voice them.

The society should not be telling you that you may not marry because you are in love with a wrong person. The society can protect children and animals from marriage, but adult, consenting human beings shouldn't be "protected" from marriage, and the society doesn't NEED "protection" from marriage either.
I am really p'd off with all the exaggerations - "if homosexuals are allowed to marry, then people will start marrying children, animals, cars, countries..." No, they won't. Marriage has not much to do with love, it's a legal contract, an agreement between two adult human beings. It exists for two reasons, and children is only one of them. Many married couples don't get children. Should their marriage be broken as well and the couple forced to go through fertility examinations and treatment? What is to happen to the infertile partner? Is she/he to be put to death or marked as "invalid for marriage"?
The other reason for marriage is much more important; people agree to take care of each other for the rest of their lives. Divorce and adultery are much bigger threats to marriage than if the couple was of same sex.

Children are not just bundles of joy either. They are quite a big economical, social and emotional burden. Not one adult - male nor female - should be forced to take on this burden against his or her will. Children shouldn't definitely be forced to take on this burden.

The exaggerations exist here too. I said that a man who is tricked to impregnate a woman (by she lying about the prevention or pricking the condom or he's taken advantage of when he's drunk or what not) shouldn't need to pay the allemony if he doesn't want to have anything to do with the child, and a feminist told me that I am persona non grata in a group for abused children because I support fathers' abandoning their children... On the other hand, abortion is not murder, and people supporting women's right to abortion are not murderers.

An adult person should be the only one whose opinion matters in questions of his/her health. The society, doctors, parents, spouse, children, may not tell an adult person that she should undergo an operation - or not to. They can't force an adult to go to doctor is she doesn't want to. They can't keep her from going to a doctor if she wants to. And the doctors may not refuse care from an adult.
An adult may not be forced to take any medication she doesn't want to, nor may she be refused the medicine she needs.
An adult person should be able to go through gender adjustment treatment, if she feels her body looks too male. (or he feels his body is too female). Likewise an adult is the only one who can make the decision on whether to go through any plastic operations, if she wants to amputate a leg or get a snout instead of a nose, or if and how to pierce, brand, tattoo and alter her body.
An adult person should be able to by herself decide whether she wants to go through a pregnancy, which might not be a disease, but does effect the physiology very much.

And finally, an adult should be allowed to by herself decide whether she lives or dies. Death penalty is barbarism and so is the criminalization of euthanasia.
Some people will start claiming that if euthanasia is allowed, people will be categorised into "worthy to live" and "not worthy to live". It's not a question of worth. I'm sure there are people who cannot see the value of life as an invalid, even though Christopher Reeve and Stephen Hawkin should have proved that you CAN have a valuable life even when your body isn't much to have.

Not really... sure, Martti Ahtisaari was born 1937 in Viipuri, when it still was part of Finland, and due to the War he had to be "relocated" in another part of Finland, because Russia grabbed that piece of Finland. Sure, he WAS one of the Karelian refugees and "internally displaced person", but as the UNHCR says, "the durable solutions to refugee populations are: voluntary repatriation to the country of origin; local integration into the country of asylum; and resettlement to a third country", and he and his family were given home in "the country of origin", Finland, and they were "locally integrated" and "resettled" to a new place, they are refugees and IDPs no more.

Nevertheless, I believe that this fact has influenced him and his way of thinking a lot. I am very proud of my home country. Not many know, but Finland was dragged into the WWII 1939 by Russia (Soviet) who attacked us. We asked for help from Sweden, England, USA, and no-one was willing to help. It was in the beginning of WWII and no-one thought it would be that big. Also, people didn't seem to care if tiny Finland was swallowed by huge Soviet or not. Germany was the only one willing to help, and that is the reason to why we were on the "wrong" side in WWII.
Because of this Russia demanded heavy reparations, and tried to finger our politics - we had to make all kinds of deals with Russia, and because of that USA thought we were Soviet's satellite during the Cold War...
Not many know that Finland was the only "enemy" country that was not occupied and that we also are the only country that has paid the reparations in full - and we did that 1952, the same year when we also held the Olympics and a Finnish woman was crowned the first Miss Universe.

All this has influenced the whole Finnish people - we knew that the world is not to be counted on if we ever are attacked, that the world will not care for the troubles of tiny peoples, that the Big Actors only care about how they can exploit us, and that no price is too high for independence, sovereignty and peace...

There's a traditional Danish Christmas cookie called "Jew cakes". The Danish Muslim children take offense because these "Jew-cakes" are a Danish tradition and is part of the home skills education in Danish elementary schools, and they don't want to be connected to Judaism.

It doesn't matter that the Jew-cakes have no connection to Judaism, that the Jewish community does not eat "Jew-cakes" nor the fact that these cookies were named by the Danish Christian society decades ago, and can be seen as offensive - TO THE JEWISH COMMUNITY.

The Danish society considers changing the name of the cookies. Not because it can be seen as an offensive slur, no, that would be "oversensitive", but because antisemitic kids shouldn't need to be offended with anything with "jew" in its name.

Reminds me of the "cartoon controversy". You know what the Muslims did when the CHRISTIANS offended their Prophet? They organized a Holocaust cartoon competition... >:->

Another thing with Denmark and Muslims - next year there's a planned UN climate change conference in Copenhagen from 30th November to 11th December, and the Swedish "head of the negotiations" Anders Turesson, thinks that Denmark hasn't thought of the fact that the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha will be on 28th of November 2009 (and starts at the sundown on 27th) and will last for three days. (to November 30th).
This year the meeting was in Poland and they had planned the meeting ends before Eid al-Adha, but for some reason "the Islamic feast of Eid al-Adha... has been shifted from Tuesday, 9 December, to Monday, 8 December."
A person I know thinks this is a clear indication that a) the Muslims wish to take over the world and b) don't care about the environment. He also thinks the fact that Canada changed the constitution to accommodate the religious minorities by allowing the voting day to be moved by a week if it coincides with a religious holiday, is NOT a sign of religious tolerance and respect of diversity and human beings, but an indication that the religious minorities try to control the government and change the "sacred Canadian traditions" (from 2001). He doesn't care one bit that the dates of the religious holidays, especially the Muslim, the Jewish and the Christian, were known already when the "fixed dates" of elections and environment meetings were fixed, and didn't need to fix the dates on anyone's religious holiday. (At least not on an important, big holiday, like the New Year or Ramadan) (And he claims he is NOT prejudiced and hateful towards religious minorities...)

Another thing... It seems that the original London Hairspray cast has recorded a "Dreidel song"... it starts with the Christian girls asking the Jewish girl to sing Christmas songs with them, and when the Jewish girl tells she's Jewish, they ask her to sing the Dreidel song - in the song is inserted the South Park version "... i'm not gonna play with it 'Cos dreidel's fuckin' gay. Jews, play stupid games, Jews, that's why they're lame." The whole show ends with "Christ the Savior is born".
Now, South Park IS non-PC, so they "may" say what ever they like. They exist to offend people. I didn't expect the musical singers to have the same goal.

USA takes the privilege to attack Syria, Pakistan and other countries it is not currently at war with disguised as "defensive attacks against terrorists". When India tells Pakistan to control her borders and stop the terrorists from coming to India, USA tells India to seek a "peaceful resolution to the confrontation".

United Nations' Human Rights Council is a sham. One religious group managed to make their practices - in spite of whether these practices are indeed based on their religion, or if they are a twisted and offensive remnant of old cultural practices - untouchable. So untouchable, that members trying to discuss the human right violations in any way connected to these, will get reprimanded. They will also get reprimanded if they complain about this fact.
There indeed is something very rotten in the state of this council.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights trumps every other law - when the respect towards other religions and freedom of religion is guaranteed in the UDHR, the hurtful and disrespectful practices of ANY religion shouldn't be allowed because the perpetrators scream about their "religious rights" being violated. Child marriage should not be allowed because some religions don't see anything wrong with it. Female genital mutilation is a disgusting, vile habit that has to stop. "Honor" murders have no honor and have to be stopped - and the murderer punished by the law. Children shouldn't be punished as adults. Raped girls and women may not be stoned to death. Women should be able to walk on the streets without company and dressed as they wish (in fact, they should be able to walk naked, but let's not go there) without being harassed, imprisoned or punished. Islam shouldn't be known by human rights violations like this, but as the peaceful, loving and tolerant religion it really is.

There was a documentary about Sudan and how the AU troops were slaughtered and UN helicopters - the only way to get to the place to save the soldiers - refused because they are civilian... it took the general in charge 2 days to get to the place, to find thousands of soldiers killed, died in their wounds waiting for the rescue and dying... Nice. Now the AU troops have been placed with UN troops. There are thousands of soldiers and five (5) helicopters - the very same civilian UN helicopters... US has hundreds of helicopters doing nothing useful in Iraq and Afghanistan, they could show some good will and give UN - or BORROW - 5-10 military helicopters to UN to make it easier for the poor general to deal with the issue. Sudan is bigger than Texas and very much bigger than Iraq. Do you think US does anything like that? No.

A courageous man in Zimbabwe video-filmed the Zimbabwean reality. The governing "political party" is nothing but thugs and terrorists. South African president - the same guy who said AIDS can be healed by sleeping with virgins and doesn't need any medication - supports Mugabe. What are the consequences to Mbeki? None, what so ever.

But there's good things happening too.

In India a man has started a school for the lowest of the low - to orphans, half-orphans, abandoned children, castless kids. Brahmanic education has not been allowed to those who aren't "worthy" - that is to everyone but those from Brahman cast. This man is giving the castless and low-cast members of India a chance to show what they can do. One step on the road to break the despicable cast system.

China is solving the growing energy problem by turning to the alternative, "green" sources.

I think abortion opposers are some of the most selfish people in the world. They don't care one bit about the QUALITY of life of the future child, only about the QUANTITY. They seem also totally oblivious to the mothers' situation or fathers' and the societies' responsibilities. They seem to ignore their own part of the stigmatization of unmarried mothers or over-sexualized environment which is hostile to sexual education and preventive aids. "Abortion is the third biggest cause of death among children younger than 1 year old in South Africa (keep in mind that the unborn are referred to as "baby" or "child" in South African legislation and many South African statistical studies). The biggest case of death in the same age group is abandonment"

Some of the people opposing abortion say that there are people who would love to parent an unwanted child. Then why don't they? The world is already full of unwanted children.
Let the abortions be forbidden AFTER the human population of the world is decreasing instead of increasing as it is now.
Let the abortions be forbidden AFTER there are no street children roaming around the world.
Let the abortions be abolished AFTER rape, also in forms of incest and sex with children, has been abolished.

Some abortion opposers compare unborn children to slaves, which is insulting to all parts involved.

1. Slaves were human beings who would have been able to live on their own had the society only allowed it. Unborn babies cannot live outside the womb. That's the reason why they are unborn. Unborn babies ARE part of their mother's body. Slaves weren't part of their owners' bodies.
2. Universal Declaration of Human Rights covers ONLY HUMANS BORN. Unborn babies are not covered by UDHR.
3. Unborn babies are not legal persons. They are not separable from their mothers, they are not capable of taking an own course of action, it's even questionable if they are aware of themselves.

I think it would be better if the abortion opposers who compare unborn babies to slaves would first abolish treatment of BORN children as slaves. The majority of countries of the world still accept child abuse in form of "spanking". Most parents consider themselves having the right to decide over the child's health and medical treatment, mutilate the child through i.e. piercings and circumcision, even kill the child. Children are being sold and bought. Even though most Western parents wouldn't sell their child, they consider the children to be their property whom they can decide for - parents decide which schools their children attend, which religion they follow, what they may and may not own, have no scruples in limiting the children's rights - and most parents don't even think of asking the child's opinion on the issues concerning the child, his life, well-being and rights. Many abortion opposers would be highly offended if they were expected to treat their own children as equal human beings.

Now Israelis, too, will benefit from the wonders of desalination technology. Those benefits may soon also be offered to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. "We expect to be up to full production of 100 million cubic meters of water a year by the end of the year," says plant engineer Gustavo Kronenberg. "Once we reach the plant's full capacity of 120 million cubic meters a year, we'll be able to provide the Palestinian Authority with 20 million cubic meters a year. We have held talks with the Palestinians and they have expressed great interest."

60 years with Israel

In a Swedish newspaper, "Daily News (Dagens Nyheter) was two articles concerning Israel's independence day.

One of them was an interview with 80 years old man. He lived in Beit Nabala near Tel Aviv. He tells about "al Nakbah" - the catastrophe. The story is not a new one - we have heard several versions of it - and the story itself is not interesting. What is interesting is what is NOT said.

Why did Israel empty some Palestinian villages?

I have no doubt on that it happened, but the "whys" are important. Someone I have been discussing about these issues with, repeated the Pro-Palestinian/Anti-Israeli version of Israeli nationalism and European colonialism attitude, invasions and occupations - with one word; Zionism. As if there was no "real" reason for the Israeli aggression... but google "Beit Nabala Massacre"... What do you find? What? You can't find anything? >:->

On December 14th, 1947, the Arab Legion (Army of Jordan) attacked a civilian bus convoy from Petah Tikva to Ben Shemen under the excuse that the convoy was hiding a Jewish terrorist... Sounds familiar, huh?

From November 9th 1947 to July 18th 1948, Jerusalem was under "siege" by the "oh-so-peaceful-loving-tolerant-hospitable" Palestinians - no Jews were allowed in the city, the Jewish quarters were under constant attacks and threats, the Jewish hospital and university campus were threatened and so on. They were assisted by the Jordanians, Egyptians and - yes - British.

On April 13th 1948, Arab militants (yes, including Palestinians >:->) attacked a medical convoy taking doctors, nurses and medical supplies to Hadassah hospital in Jerusalem.

We don't even have names to all the massacres and pogroms by the Arabs towards the Jewish population, we don't even know about all the kibbutzim and villages destroyed by the Arabs and Palestinians during this siege... (It would be better if the Israeli revisionist historians would dig up THIS information from the archives and memories... but they won't. And do you know why? Because the Antisemitic Far Left is so strong within the Academic world that holocaust denials have better chances to get their findings published than non-anti-Israeli historians...)

The Pro-Palestinians/Anti-Israelis have made an industry of Al Nakbah and will drum Deir Yassin memorials and whatnots and be mute, deaf and blind to the other side...

They will remind everyone of the King David's hotel, but don't say a word about Fawzi el-Kutub (al-Kuttab, el-Kuttub...) - SS-trained Palestinian >:-> - who organized
- the bombing of The Palestine Post on February 1st 1948, killed one, injured dozens and destroyed the press bureau.
- the bombing of Ben Yehuda street in Jerusalem in February 22nd, 1948. About 50 CIVILIANS were killed and dozens were wounded.
- the bombing of the Jewish Agency for Israel in March 11th, 1948, killing 12 and wounding dozens.
- the bombing of the Tiferes Yisrael Synagogue in May 21-22nd, 1948
And others...

It is because of this situation the Israelis cleaned up the road from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, broke through the siege and made sure the Jewish citizens of Jerusalem may live in their home town, and because of this some villages, towns and cities were emptied from anyone who could be harboring Arab soldiers, militia or terrorists.

This is a piece of information one HAS to know, consider and remember to have an informed and balanced view of "al Nakbah".

Of course no-one should be driven from one's home, but these villages were emptied AFTER the Arabs/Palestinians tried to empty the area from the Jewish population.

If the Arabs/Palestinians had succeeded instead of the Jews, the world would be quiet... just as quiet as the world has been during the millenniums of Jews being driven from their homes... Saying that a Jew can easily, without scruples or objections, be driven from his home. >:->

And do you know what THAT is? That is antisemitism, Jew-hate, pure and simple.

About some countries' attitude towards human rights

Muammar Gaddafi has said about human rights that that is bull the rich, Western countries can afford.

OIC and AL back Sudan and think China is a "record guy" for not letting such bagatelles and stupidities like human rights stop them from trading with Sudan.

OIC has also forced through a change on IDHR - now it's a violation of human rights to criticize Islam, Sharia laws and Mohammed.

Venezuelan Minister on social affairs says that it's more important to provide food and literacy to people than human rights like freedom of expression...

What does Quran say about polygamy?

It really doesn't say it's ok... because you can not "do justice between them". Not that I have anything against polygamy. If someone wants to marry several women/men, go ahead. It's your life and harms no-one, so it's not my business. Marrying children do harm the children.

Also, why do people automatically think "polygamy" means a MAN marrying several WOMEN?
If you accept polygamy, you have to accept a WOMAN marrying several MEN. And a MAN marrying several MEN... and a WOMAN marrying several WOMEN - and a WOMAN or a MAN marrying several MEN AND WOMEN >:->

Universal Declaration of Human Rights is based on the idea that all humans born are of equal value and should not be treated differently from each other.

Within a proper understanding of UDHR this would not be possible nor accepted by the society:

I have been told that I am taking a too frivolous attitude towards Palestine and Palestinians. Having the "let them eat cake" attitude of queen Marie-Thérèse.

I know I don't live in war, but that is the reality and every-day of Palestinians. How ever horrible it is, it is a "normal" day to a Palestinian. It has been for a very long time. The human body and mind adjust to any kind of circumstances.

Nevertheless, I don't expect of Palestinians more than I expect of myself.

If I wanted an education, I would not let busses being late or there being no fuel stop me from getting that education. Especially if someone I don't like and I know wishes me ill is the cause for the busses being late and there being no fuel. I would walk just to spite this someone. I would get the best education ever just to spite this someone.
Just look at Mikhail Lomonosov.

Of course the Palestinian students SHOULDN'T NEED TO. We don't live in 18th century Russia. But THIS is the situation right now, THESE are the circumstances. If you are spoiled by modern comfort, if you expect modern comfort and technological benefits like working infrastructure, showers and cars, and you live on a war zone in a country where water is a scarcity, I'd say you are living in a fantasy world.

Of course you have the RIGHT to live in a country with all the comforts and benefits, you have the RIGHT to live in peace, you have the RIGHT to water, food and a decent life with your family, but life is not fair. None of us gets what we are entitled to, what we have the RIGHT to get. All of us have to make the best of the circumstances and resources we HAVE.

One of the circumstances the Palestinians live in every day is the presence of Israel.
Of course Israel is violating human rights and international laws, but what does acknowledging that fact change? Nothing.
Of course Israel is responsible of a lot of the difficulties the Palestinians have to deal with, but what does acknowledging that fact change? Nothing.
Of course Israel should change her wicked ways, repent and repair what she has broken, but what are the chances of that happening? Rather small, don't you agree? So if we are waiting for Israel, NOTHING will change.

Now, people will tell me that the violent resistance is the only way to change things. BULLSHIT!

How could the soldiers know whether the kid is throwing stones or hand grenades?
Besides, do you remember the story of David and Goliath? What did David use to kill Goliath? A stone...
Do you remember the clashes between Hamas and Fatah in Gaza? Guess what some grown men were injured by, some seriously? Yeah... thrown stones...

You THINK the Israelis shoot at anything that moves, and Palestinian kids that don't even move, and YOU LET YOUR KIDS OUT THERE TO BE SHOT BY ISRAELIS?

I saw a documentary about a Palestinian family - they were sitting down to eat, and then there was shooting outside. The kids disappeared and ran to where people were shooting quick as ferrets... Don't they have any respect towards their parents? Don't their parents have any authority so that they can say "no" and see the kids obey? Or don't they WANT to say "no" to the kids, because the terrorist organizations will give you blood money for every child killed by Israelis, and having a "martyr" as a kid gives you special status and treatment? Or do they breed so much they don't care if one or two of them are killed by Israelis? I want to believe the Palestinians love their children too, but images like this make me wonder...

In Basra the Iraqis stopped this British tank with Molotov Cocktails. You make MC's rather easily: you take a glass bottle, fill it with fuel (I can hear them... "oh, but the Palestinians don't HAVE fuel! How could they be making MCs!" LOL You can use any flammable liquid, like strong alcohol as well, and that you can make of anything, rotten fruits or vegetable, old grain or what ever), put in a piece of rag soaked in the fuel, put a cork in, light the rag and throw the bottle. If you don't have glass bottles, you can take a ceramics bottle as well. Anything that shatters on impact goes.

MCs are quite achievable for the Palestinians. This way they would also not harm civilians >:-> But I suppose the civilians are a better target... yeshiva boys don't shoot back >:->

Then the absolutely best, bravest, most heroic and effective way of stopping tanks:

There's a fuel problem in Gaza. No gasoline...

Students complain because they can't get to school in time.

UN can't get in food aid.

Sure... awful. But...

When I was young I had about 8 km to school and later the distance grew to the double. Yes, we had buses, but I often took the bicycle to school. From the age 9-10 to age 20.
There's an ocean of stories about children and youth who walk, run, cycle or ride to school, universities, and so on.
My brother rode to job a couple of times. Yes, in the modern time, in Finland, with good roads and plenty of fuel.

Gaza strip is is about 41 kilometers (25 mi) long, and between 6 and 12 kilometers (4–7.5 mi) wide. You WALK from border to border in a COUPLE OF HOURS.

Are you saying Gazans don't have the stamina of a 10-years-old Finnish girl?

It's not lack of resources that stop the Gazans, it's lack of resourcefulness...

Also... where are all the horses, donkeys, mules and camels? For thousands of years the transport has been done without any fuel, so if there's a will, there's a way... Sure, it would be EASIER to do this with gas and cars, but it's not IMPOSSIBLE without.

Besides... I think it's better for future to act as if global warming was a real threat, whether it is or not. Oil is not a renewable source of energy. One day there will be no oil, no fuel at all. Gazans could use this opportunity to both work for a sustainable, energy-wise future AND to tell Israel that their efforts to oppress Gazans is not going to work.

But sure... it's easier to play victim and martyr and blame Israel than take responsibility and power over your own life in your own hands.

It's easier to stay at home and play soccer with your buddies than wake up a couple of hours earlier and walk to the University and get the education so that you could work for a better future for yourself and your people. After all, the world will pity you - and your people - and give you everything you are going to need, so why not stay at home and play soccer?

Misandry and Chauvinist Sows

I find it fascinating that there are people around who are chauvinist; arrogant, elitist, insulting to everyone who is not part of their group - and who gladly spread all kind of crap about those who aren't part of the group, but who get EXTREMELY offended if the table is turned...

I have heard that some feminists who have no scruples in using "chauvinist pig" get EXTREMELY offended when someone uses the expression "chauvinist sow".

The view that women are better than men just because they are of different gender might be based on the centuries old idea of that men are better than women, but it's still just as chauvinist and sexist idea.

So what separates you from the guys who invented "men only"? Nothing.

Think about this: a picture of a fat, hairy woman, sleeping in a bed. A group of men start making fun of her, saying things like "think about waking up with THAT in your bed!" "disgusting!" "Think about having THOSE legs around you while making love!"

Pretty upsetting, huh? This is nevertheless the style a picture of a hairy man sleeping was commented in a women's group in a debate forum, and when a couple of men got offended and sad by it, they were driven out of the group with insults and mockery... to this day those women don't understand that it is just as insulting towards a man as it is towards a woman.

Our tap water is clean and good. I flush liters of good, clean and clear drinking water down the drain with my pee and poo every day, I wash myself, my dishes, my clothes in the same, clean and good drinking water, and I seldom give it any thoughts... I filled a bottle of some soda from a well known company with this water, and I came to think about India, water and Coca Cola Company.

There has been some talk about how intimidating a person I am, so I'm giving them some time to see, that if they don't dare to speak when I'm around, what happens when I'm not around... I'm sure nothing much is going to chance, but - let's see :-)

One of my biggest adversaries have started an own blog. I think he calls it "The Truth" or something other pompous like that. My blog is called "Ketutar says so", because this is what I am saying LOL I don't claim to know The Truth or be able to tell others what The Truth is, I just know what I know and what I think about things.
